Canton, Ohio is a city in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio and the seat of Summit County. The population was 58,651 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Summit County by population. The city is located on the eastern edge of Canton-Summit Township and is bordered to the north by Akron and to the east by Youngstown. It lies within Summit County's boundaries but is considered part of Lucas County, Ohio. The first coffeehouses were opened in Canton in 1796 as an early form of trade between EuropeanAmericans and Native Americans.
