The United States Navy has deployed gift history in Cambridge, Ohio for more than a century. The USS Constitution and USS Constitution Museum were the first warships of the U.S. Navy to be stationed in Italy during World War I. In 1922, the USS Constitution was decommissioned and donated to the University of Cincinnati as part of their donation program for military vessels. The ship was used as a classroom, research center and museum until her retirement in 1978. Since its deployment, the USS Constitution Museum has been hosting rotating exhibits on various aspects of navy gift history from around the world. This year’s exhibit is “From Sailors to Sailors’ Families: touched by American Naval History sinceWorld War II” which runs through May 20th at 4pm-6pm each day except Saturday when it is open from 10am-4pm. Cambridge, Ohio is a small town in the northwestern corner of Ohio. The population was 2,965 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton-Muncie Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by English settlers in 1814 and named for Cambridge University, England. The first school in Cambridge was built on the site of what is now the High School of Science and Technology. In 1870, Central College (now Southern Methodist University) opened its doors to students from Cambridge and surrounding towns. One hundred years later, in 2000, Wesleyan University established itself as a full-time presence in the town with its new Milton Campus. In recent decades, much development has taken place within the boundaries of Cambridge including: an adobe courthouse that served as a courthouse until 1979; a high school that opened in 2006; and two commercial areas developments - one known as "The Square" and another called "The Woods". Today's economy relies heavily on education opportunities which include Elmira College, Delaware Valley Community College, Northern Kentucky University and Akron State University among others. The community also enjoys excellent potential for tourism with several restaurants and attractions available nearby such as Great Lakes Aquariums & Museums (Great Lakes), Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds (Central Park), Sharon Robinson Museum of Art (Sharon Robinson House) and more.

The navy deployed gift history goes back to 1917 when the US Navy began deploying gifts to other countries. The first gift was a watch from America to China. This was followed by a Bible in 1921, an ice cream truck in 1922, and a car in 1924. In 1927, the navy began sending items such as radios, cars and cigarettes. From 1929-1932, the navy sent items such as parachutes and rifles. In 1934, the navy began sending items like Ships’ Wives’ Home clothing and books. After World War II ended in 1945, the navy stopped giving gifts altogether and instead started giving money for military service.
In 1811, the town of Cambridge was founded in what is now the city of Cleveland. It was named for the University of Cambridge, which had been established in England a year earlier. The town grew rapidly and by 1829 it had a population of over 2,000. In 1838, the university moved to Cleveland and Cambridge became an independent municipality. The town experienced rapid growth until annexation by Cleveland in 1923. Although some aspects of its history are more remote from today's residents than others, there are plenty of examples illustrating how community spirit and entrepreneurship can lead to success when these elements come together. Cambridge was one of many small towns that mushroomed during the American Revolution. By 1775, there were only about sixty-six people living in Ohio County, plus two families who rented land from the Shawnee Indians near present-day Painesville. settlement began almost immediately after Lexington and Concord were captured by British forces on April 19th, 1775. Many Congregationalists (a Protestant denomination) fled Boston before British troops arrived to take them into custody; they brought with them their churches and scriptures which soon began to arrive back home as refugees settled among their fellow Protestants in new settlements throughout Kentucky and Virginia. Because not all Congregationalists apostatized following Lexington & Concord; many moderates or " drifters" also chose to stay put as well ( Hamilton). The first permanent settler in what is now Cameron Township was John Smythe who arrived on July 8th, 1800 from Greencastle Township west of Pittsburgh (then part of Pennsylvania). Smythe built a log cabin on his farmstead known as Sycamore Station which he later sold to Samuel Marsden for $200 (now part of downtown Cleveland). Marsden renamed it High Peak Station after reaching an agreement with then Governor Nicholas Bradford that any high mountain within three miles radius would be granted unto him for grazing purposes only - this area included much higher ground aroundpresent-day Akron where Carr Tower stands today! Early settlers found several natural resources such as coal and timber available while occasional pioneers hunted game including deer, bear, raccoon etc., but most colonists relied heavily on agriculture due to lack thereof at that time. After Lancaster County was organized into unitary government under George Washington’s Administration on March 4th [1789], agricultural production increased greatly along with transportation facilities enabling farmers located closer to marketside goods rather than shipping them long distances like those at Thatchersville just outside Lancaster City Limits now known asuyork City Limits! By 1830 there were over 1,500 individuals living within what is now Cameron Township – more than any other township excepting Perrysburg! This thriving community quickly became known for its fine schools – Stonington Female Seminary being founded in 1830 followed by Mechanics Institute opened in 1836 – both considered amongst the best institutions then extant! In addition businesses flourished such As The Diggory Brothers sawdust manufactories starting up early 1840’s followed by J H White Paper Merchants opening up late 1850’sjenkins Furniture factory1851), Wm A Morse Bicycle company started operations 1861) Chas E GoodrichLumberjacks operating 1880); Steuben Glass Works started 1902) G E FentonDrug store 1916) Emerson Electric cofounded 1919)... As manufacturing sector diversified Cambridges fortunes declined beginning around 1920 when heavy industry revived following World War I.. However Cambridges landscape changed again starting around 1970 when Riverbend Mills closed its doors due primarily to competition from nearby imports Such as Japanese machines produced at Canton Rubber Company located just east off I-71 exit 9A... althoughCambridge continues strong economically through numerous companies engaged in various industries including Information Technology Companies such as IBM/Lenovo/Lenovo Group plc...)Today nearly every major business operating within or adjacenttoCameron Township has been here since before 1996
Cambridge, Ohio was founded in 1824 by George Washington. The town was named for the university that George Washington attended, Cambridge College. In 1825, the village of Cambridge became a separate town and was renamed Princeton. The village of Cambridge again became a separate town in 1926 when it merged with Walnut Creek to become Arlington Heights.
