The Bucyrus Coffee Company was founded in 1869 by John D. Rockefeller and his brother Richard. The company became one of the largest coffee companies in the Midwest. In 1914, the Rockefeller family sold their interest in the company to a group of businessmen led by Harry Frazee. The Frazees continued to run the business until it was taken over by J.B. Hunt in 1952. The Bucyrus Coffee Company was acquired by Roepke's Coffee Keesing Incorporated in 1984 and closed its doors in 1987. TheBucyrus Coffee Company was founded on October 17th, 1869, when John D., Jr., along with his brother Richard, opened a shop near what is now the city of Cleveland at 421 West Third Street. At first they only brewed coffee but soon began selling beans too- this very early period is often considered to be pioneering for coffee brewing as it allowed people of all walks of life access to quality java products. In 1914, John D’Rockefeller decided that he wanted his own coffee company and purchased a controlling interest in Harry Frazee’s old partner JB Hunt’s Ohio-based Roepke & Sons Coffee Keesing Incorporated which had been struggling financially from 1943-1946 due to wartime rationing Restrictions placed on commodity sales within America ( primarily coffee). With new ownership came new ideas and an aggressive marketing campaign designed to bring more customers into store; something that Roepke’s were not able to do with prior ownership policies ( for example: no advertising or public displays). During World War II, because coffee wasn't taxed like other goods such as gasoline or food, price controls were put into place limiting how much each individual could purchase per month - rationing resulted in increased prices across all commodities making it difficult for small businesses like Roepke's Coffee Co.). This meant that while local farmers were still getting paid fair market value for their crop( even while Coffey's went out of business), consumers were paying significantly more than necessary just because these larger companies could afford it! Nevertheless, despite some challenges (mainly during 1945-1947 when quotas caused prices to skyrocket) Roepke’s managed somehow keep up with competition both locally and statewide throughout the war years – an accomplishment unique among any small business during that time period! After World War II ended production ceased at Bucyrus plant between 1951-1952 as JB Hunt decided against returning back to large scale roasting operations after seeing lower profits associated with them during peacetime ( although they did continue bottling beans under different names until 1987). Instead Hunt turned his attention towards smaller packaging and marketing efforts utilizing existing distribution channels including grocery stores throughout Ohio and parts of Michigan where he owned retail outlets before movingfocus onto direct mail order through Eckerd's Pharmaceutical Products Corporation - oneofthe earliest major drugstore chainingsinthe United States!
