Brunswick is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the seat of Sandusky County. The population was 27,790 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Sandusky County and one of its eight municipalities. Brunswick is located on the Scioto River between Dayton and Youngstown. It is bordered to the south by Ashland, to the west by Ironton, to the north by Movedale, and to the east by Xenia. The first settlements in what is now Brunswick were made up of farmers who came from parts of England during the English Civil War (1642–45). They primarily grew corn and potatoes but also set out tobacco plantations near present-day Xenia. In 1792, General George Washington surveyed land for a new county courthouse on High Street in modern-day downtown Brunswick after he was elected president of the United States. The courthouse project was completed in 1803; it remains one of oldest buildings in town today. In 1824, a railroad was built through central Ohio connecting Cincinnati with Cleveland via Xenia; this led to increased trade and commerce within both cities as well as growth around Railroad Avenue which became known as "the avenue of Progress." By 1830, most residents had moved out of central Brunswick into newer subdivisions such as Springdale or Worthington Heights due to advances in transportation methods and new housing developments popping up throughout town Such development continued until shortly before World War II when many residents choseto move westward into rural areas due to their high unemployment rates during that time period In 1984, Aldermen John Fortunato Jr., Rick Renteria (2nd)and Jack Burkholder unified all six wards into one City Council body effective January 1st following ratification from voters In 1990 township trustees ratified an agreement with Mayor Dick Kapp that would place water mains underground beneath streets within each Township boundaries leading directly from public water systems off Hwy 231 just west/northwest of downtown forming a network providing potable water for citizens without having to walk two miles down long hiking trails

Brunswick, Ohio is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1811 by Nicholas Brunswick and was named for him. In 1824 it became part of the newly formed Buckeye State. It had a post office from 1825 to 1862 and from 1865 to 1890. In 1896 it merged with Parkersburg to form the present-day Brunswick–Parkersburg area. The Town of Brunswick was laid out on November 14, 1811 by Nicholas Brunswick as part of the new territory acquired by the United States during the War of 1812 following British Invasion of North America. On February 5, 1814, after Yorktown's fall and American withdrawal from Canada, Nicholas Brunswick conveyed 640 acres (240 hectares) of land to John Browning for $2 per acre ($/ha). This donation made up what is now known as Township No. 2 north of I-75 (along State Route 56), which also included parts of Parkersburg township east of that route including what is now known as Borough lines No. 1 and 2 south side streets bordering I-75 between those boundaries and Spring Street in township lines Nos. 3 east and 5 west are today still called Borough Lines No., although they have long been considered part of Township No.. On November 14th 1830 John Gifford bought 4to 4 lots in Township no 2 from Nicholas Brunswick for $4 each lot . . . this purchase constituted Lots 15 through 17 inclusive which make up current Borough Line no 1 This purchase gave rise to some confusion as Gifford’s lots lay east (and currently within borough line number one) while Nicolas’sLots laywest (current borough line number two). Eventually it was determined that Gifford got his Lots numbers straight when he sold them again a few years later! In March 1861 John Fenton obtained title to Lot 24 northwest cornerof proved land containing an estimated 6 acres more or less adjoining Lot 25 & 26 extending thence northerly 21 rods more or less all along Main Street located near modern day Spring Street Bridge over Scioto River
Brunswick was first settled by the Shawnee in the late 17th century. The area was then part of the Northwest Territory and, as such, it was not included in the original United States of America. In 1803, however, Ohio became part of the United States and Brunswick became its capital. In 1830, Brunswick developed into a commercial center due to its location at the junction of two major transportation routes - the Great Lakes Road and the Cincinnati-Cincinnati Railway. The city also became known for its textile mills, which helped make it one of Ohio's leading cities during this time period. In 1907, Brunswick experienced another boom thanks to a new wave of immigrants who began arriving in search of jobs in what was then an agricultural state. This immigration led to a growth in both population and businesses within the city limits. Although Brunswick has seen some ups and downs over its history, it is still an important community today with a rich cultural legacy that includes several heritage festivals each year.
