The Brooklyn, Ohio Army National Guard has been deployed for more than 60 years and has a rich history of providing support to the United States Military. The unit was founded in 1917 as the 9th Infantry Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry and served in World War I and World War II. In 1949, the regiment was redesignated as the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment and served in Korea before being transferred to Germany in 1957. The battalion was re-designated as the 5th Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment in 1978 and then again as the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment in 1992. The brigade Combat Team 1st Brigade is responsible for military operations within northeast Ohio including portions of Stark County. In 1945, when federal troops were withdrawn from Europe following World War II, a group of soldiers from Brooklyn volunteered to serve their country once again. After training at Camp Blanding on Florida’s Panhandle, they embarked for sea on USS Indianapolis (CA-15) on September 2nd with orders to help liberate Europe from Nazi tyranny. On October 26th they disembarked at Marseilles France after weeks of hard work sailing through dangerous seas filled with enemy submarines; they had made it all the way across! The men who sailed that day will never be forgotten — or so we thought! After landing at Normandy two days later they continued their fight against German forces until finally surrendering on May 8th1945. That same year General Eisenhower ordered all American Troops out of Germany except for 4 Battalions which would remain behind under LtCol Robert E Lee Atchison’s command to provide security for West Berlin during its occupation by Soviet Union; these units are now known as “the last Americans” because they withdrew from THE city late on November 15TH 1989!!! A few months later another group of Brooklynites volunteered themselves to serve in Panama City (now Panama) where we remained until hostilities broke out there in early 1951……..and we haven’t left since!!!!! When America entered World War II there were only seven infantry regiments assigned full time to fight overseas alongside other services such artillery and tanks etc but over time this increased gradually until by 1944 there were 11 infantry regiments stationed throughout America This increase wasn't just due to recruitments however many officers had already retired or taken leave so replacements could be found Additionally some companies became attached to other divisions while others were reassigned back home between wars For example Company K2/7IN changed its name multiple times between 1939-1945 due various campaigns including WWII Sicily Russia 1941 North Africa 1942 Market Garden Arnhem Netherlands 1945 From company commander CPT John Poyntz going off sick To CO Capt Charles Haddock when he died suddenly 24 Sept 45 Until his death Lieutenant Colonel George Wratledge took command 1 Dec 45 And held until 15 Jan 46 Then Lt Col James S Whitehead took over 17 Jan 46 When CPT Whitehead got killed 27 Mar 47 Captured by Rumanians whilst fighting near Constanza Romania Also note that 6 Sep 42 Co Pki detached from USMC UNO HQ TO FIGHT GERMANY southwest Of Bucharest Withdrawn effective 20 sep 42 Because units available elsewhere did not suffice

Brooklyn has been called "America's Riverside" because of its many waterways and parks. There are also several hospitals in Brooklyn, as well as high-tech companies and colleges. Brooklyn was founded by Dutch farmers in 1624 on the east bank of the Hudson River. By 1785, it had a population of 10,000 people. In 1815, Brooklyn became a part of what is now New York City and lost its autonomy; however, it continues to be home to many Dutch speakers today. The town declined rapidly during the 19th century due tosawmilling and other economically ruinous activities that destroyed much of the downtown area. However, since 2000s there has been steady growth with new development along with job opportunities for locals who have worked in nearby cities such as Cleveland and Cincinnati. Today's economy is based on services such as healthcare and technology companies; manufacturing; transportation (mainly trucking); retail; access to natural resources (in particular timber); tourism; professional sports teams (e.g., NFL Giants football team), especially basketball (the Brooklyn Nets) and ice hockey (the Brooklyn Islanders). The borough achieved full cityhood in 1898 after being split from Kings County

Brooklyn quickly became a center for commerce and industry, and its population grew rapidly during the 19th century. In 1916, Brooklyn became an independent city and retains its unique culture today. Brooklyn’s history is intertwined with that of its neighboring communities – many of which were also founded during the 1800s as agricultural villages around Cleveland. Brooklyn, Ohio was once part of the British Empire. It was ceded to the United States in 1783 as a part of the Treaty of Paris. The town began to grow rapidly after it became an incorporated community in 1827. Brooklyn's economy depended on its location at the junction of two major railroads, and it quickly became known for its manufacturing and trade activities. The town also developed a significant population base thanks to its role as a stop on the Underground Railroad. In 1898, Brooklyn voters passed a resolution proclaiming themselves "the last refuge of freedom." As America began to experience increasing economic and political instability, however, Brooklyn turned against independence and voted to secede from the US in 1912. After World War II, Brooklyn experienced rapid growth as an industrial center due to new technology developments. However, during the late 1990s and early 2000s, there were several attempts by developers to replace or renovate many of the buildings that comprise today's downtown borough (including much of what is now known as Clinton Hill). These efforts have led to some negative consequences for residents including increased traffic and noise levels; decreased property values; and loss of character not only for Brooklyn but also for much larger sections of Cleveland Heights, Beachwood Heights and other nearby neighborhoods.
