Broadview Heights is a small town in west-central Ohio, located on the border of Columbiana County and Stark County. The population was 1,733 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that would later become Broadview Heights was first settled by white people in 1812 when they moved from West Point, New York. The community was named for John Broadwater, an early settler. In 1836, the community became a village after it voted tojoin the new city of Akron. In 1865, when much of what is now Columbiana County were acquired by Stark County, Broadview Heights became its new county seat. At this time there were only two buildings in the town: a courthouse and jail. Since then, many businesses have been built in and around Broadview Heights – including several churches and schools as well as a shopping center and a health club/spa complex. Today's economy lean more towards services than manufacturing; however some heavy industry still exists nearby including aluminum production at Alcoa (formerly American Tube) and PPG Industries'.

Broadview Heights is a neighborhood in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. It was developed from the remains of a single-family farmstead that was burned down in 1836. The area around the current Broadview Heights synagogue and park was first settled by Germans in the late 1800s. The name "Broadview Heights" originated from a nearby stream called broadway which flowed through what is now the park. The neighborhood today owes its development to two factors: Methodist churches and local industrial businesses that established themselves along nearby streets such as Wabash Avenue and Erie Boulevard. In 1926, when Cleveland's zoning code became effective, Broadview Heights was one of just three neighborhoods in the city that were designated as "commuter areas." This designation allowed for low-income residents to live near downtown, yet maintain their own homes within their own districts. Over time, many families moved out of Broadview Heights into more upscale neighborhoods such as Euclid and Maplewood but kept some of their original homes in town – this continued until recently when houses are becoming scarce on much of these streets. Today, there are several schools located within walking distance of most homes: Shriners Hospitality School (a private school), University Hill Elementary School (K-8), Friendship Christian School (K-8), Stonington Elementary School (K-8), and Horizon Middle/High School (9th-12th). There are also several stores close by including Checkersaws Antiques & Collectibles, TJ Maxx, CVS Pharmacy, Kroger Supermarket - all located within blocks of each other on Euclid Street. Additionally, there is an abundance of restaurants options with locations throughoutmost neighborhoods; examples include Joe's Pizza founder Joe Corzine's home store at 925 Superior Ave., Chop Suey Primitive Chinese BBQ at 1022 Euclid Ave., Craft Brewery Northeast at 1230 Nester Road Rd., Sam's Club at 511 E Huron St., etc.). One unique aspect about Broadview Heights is that it has always been home to Hasidic Jews – specifically Lubavitch Jews – who have managed to keep their synagogue open despite struggles with gentrification and displacement over the years. Today, there are three Lubavitch synagogues operating in Cleveland - Congregation B'nai Israel Akron North Branch at 4455Crestline Rd., Congregation Beth Shalom West Side Park at 6363 Lorain Ave., and Congregation Shearith Israel Akron North Branch at 6609 Lorain Ave.
