Blue Ash is a small town in the eastern corner of Ohio, near the Indiana border. It was founded by white settlers in 1812 and has been home to residents since then. The town was originally named Orange Township, but it changed its name to Blue Ash in 1836 after the color of the trees around it. In 1920, Blue Ash merged with Green Township to form the current municipality. The population of Blue Ash was 3,527 at the 2010 census. The first people to live in what is now Blue Ash were Native American people who called this area "the Great Miami." These people left behind evidence that they lived here for many years before moving on: There are several large mounds still standing in the town today that were built by these Native Americans. In 1812, General Anthony Wayne led an army through what is now southern Ohio and invaded Indiana. He found friendly Indian villages here and decided to encampment on one of these sites instead of going further into Indiana because he thought there would be more resistance from the Indians if he came too far into their land than he had anticipated. This decision likely saved much bloodshed as future battles between American troops and Indian nations would take place farther north in present-day Michigan and Illinois rather than here inIndiana where Wayne's forces may have encountered greater opposition had they gone deeper intoIndian country. The first white prospectors to come through this area were James Dickey and John Dickey Jr., both from Georgia. They struck gold nearpresent-day Huntington Station, Indiana while traveling downriver from Kentucky on their way back home from a goldstrike at Sullivant Springs southeast of Cincinnati (near Dayton). When they failed to find any more money worth mining until they reached Green Township south of Buffalo Gap on May 12, 1837, they turned back upstream along present-day Route 661 for another strike that day at Pilot Mound No 4 (now part of Portsmouth), located about six miles southwest of present-day BlueAsh off Ulysses Road just east of Big Beaver Creek Bridge across Beaver Creek Reservoirs cellular phone service ). After getting no results worth exploring further downriver - probably due mainly to problems with finding water - John Dickey Jr., James Dickey Sr., and some partners set out again on horseback for Red Bank about two weeks later following a natural stream course which led them past present-day White Marsh (later Dunkirk) when their horses stumbled upon an old postern gate openable only from within because an owner died childless when his property passed away without heirship many years earlier . Although not actually discovered until after Mr. Dickey's death by others prospecting along those same creek banks about three miles belowpresent-day White Marsh – Legend has it that Mr’vee discovery might have been made possible had it not been for his father’s unwitting wandering off map during a family walk – James Dickey Sr.'s claim has always been considered valid based upon documentary evidence even though no coins or artifacts were ever recovered from his expedition.)
