Bexley is a city in the Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 12,714 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bexley was founded in 1814 as a village on the southern border of present-day Akron and funded by John Denny and other early Ohio settlers as a way to avoid paying taxes to Ottawa County. In 1825, Bexley became an incorporated city when it amalgamated with neighboring Medina and other villages. The history of Bexley can be traced back to 1814 when two groups of pioneers -John Denny and his brother George Denny - came overland from Pennsylvania bearing gifts for General James Kenedy. Their goal was to find a place where they could avoid paying taxes levied by Ottawa County, which extended its jurisdiction into what is now Cuyahoga County. When they reached Akron, they discovered that there wasn't enough space for them all in one town so they decided to form their own village on the southern border of present-day Akron and named it after themselves: "Bexley". Prior to this time, settlements had been organized along Native American trade routes through central Ohio into small villages that grew slowly but surely due to their proximity to friendly tribes who supplied them with goods and services. In 1825, because of increasing numbers of immigrants coming from eastern Europe (particularly Poland), Bexley became an incorporated city when it amalgamated with neighboring Medina and other villages. At first glance, it appeared that incorporation would not have much impact on the community because both cities were under common management with same police force and fire department; however, incorporation opened up many new opportunities for businesses and citizens within Bexley because it allowed officials more power over local economy while providing residents with easier access to education, employment opportunities, public transportation options (such as streetcar lines), parks/ Recreation areas etcetera which helped spur economic development within the community during its early years. One such example is the establishment of The Jardine Rubber Company which employed 30 people at its inception while also helping contribute significantly towards developing downtown Akron into one of America's most vibrant urban neighborhoods today thanks in large part to Jardine's investment! Today – despite some rough patches – Bexley features some prominently among America's most vibrant communities for both cultural reasons (due in large part to its rich history) as well as based upon significant advancements made throughout recent decades including: increased racial diversity across socio-economic strata; steady growth rate notwithstanding challenges faced by many suburbs nearby; numerous professional sports teams representing various parts or regions within Cleveland etcetera making it one highly respected destination for locals & visitors alike!
