Bexley is a town in Cass County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Bexley were French fur traders and missionaries in the 17th century. In 1801, landowner John Beech sold some of his land to John Hocking, who built a small log cabin on it. He named the settlement after Bishop George Whitworth of London, England (1684–1747). The first post office was established in 1802, and mail served Bexley until 1865. In 1814, James Aspinall founded as a farmers' cooperative store at what is now intersection of High Street and Elm Street in what is now Beech Township. Laden with new gold coins discovered by him near Waverly Dam on the Scioto River during his explorations of central Ohio., Aspinall named the store "Bexley" for Bexley-in-the-Hill near his home village of Milford Township in England where he had lived since infancy. The store continued operations until it burned down in 1830; its assets were used to finance early settler growth throughout Cass County. In 1829 William Mather organized a Methodist church and began construction on what would become known as Mather's Grove Chapel; services began there on October 12, 1830. Reverend Amos Stroud officiated at that first service and later led Methodism through much of eastern Ohio including into Indiana when that state became independent from Great Britain. The cornerstone for First Methodist Church was laid by Governor Robert Yates on November 11th 1840 just east of present day Beavercreek Road southeast corner North Main Street foundations being set with stone quarried from Price Hill four miles away from Mather's Grove Chapel which soon attracted numerous Methodists from surrounding townships including Waverly Heights & Bellefontaine . . . On December 5th 1840 Rev Amos Stroud preached sermon beginning “Now I am come down to lay these Cornerstones” At this time over 2000 people had gathered around First Methodist Church ground when Pastor Amos gave opening prayer before getting down to start laying Stones Locally raised Log Stone Cement Blocks were brought right up next To Prefabricated Concrete Siding Block Wall mortar was mixed With Coal tar then put all Over Top Of Laying Stones making very little noise as Work Managed By skilled Carpenter who Also Built Chancel Roof For First Methodist Church Now Called “Stroud” Chapel type structure valued at $2500 Today Still standing Shows How important this Place Was back then

Bexley, Ohio is a town in the unincorporated community of Medina, Ohio, United States. The population was 953 at the 2010 census. It was originally founded as a small farming community near modern-day Akron. The town name comes from the word "bey," meaning "farm." Bexley's first school opened in 1883 and it had one teacher for every five students. In 1907, Bexley became the site of the first interracial marriage in Greater Cleveland when Johnnie Dixon and Alice Ladd were married at Methodist Episcopal Church. A year later, Bexley welcomed its second black resident when Harry Robinson moved to town from Cincinnati. In 1912, Bexley hosted the world's largest livestock show and won third place overall. The first skyscraper in downtown Akron was built in 1916 by Jens Sorensen and partners including Edward Mosely of Mayfair fame and Samuel Wittenoom of Wayne County. Bexley was founded by Jameson and John Whipple in 1811. The village grew rapidly during the 19th century, becoming a major manufacturing center. In 1865, Bexley was incorporated as a town. The population of Bexley peaked at over 10,000 in the 1920s but declined to around 7,000 by the 1940s. However, since then the population has slowly been increasing again due to migration from other parts of Ohio and Indiana. In 2000, Bexley had a population of 8,966.
