The Bedford Township Rifle Club was founded in 1892. It was the second such club in Ohio. rifle shooting had been an annual event at the meetings of the Grand Trunk Railway Company since 1881. The clubs were formed to help promote and protect rifle hunting and shooting, as well as to provide competition and instruction for members. In 1895, a new rifle range was built on the north side of town. The ranges continued to be used until 1916 when they were converted into tanks by adding turrets with machine guns. The tanks provided cover for practice sessions during World War I while artillery fire helped keep the town safe from German sniper attacks. In 1919, one of the rifles that had been used at the range became almost unique in history- it became part of a collection by George Washington Carver Jr., owner of a farm near Bedford that he used for hunting purposes and also offered gun shows throughout central Ohio. When Carver died in 1938, his estate sold his interest in the property to Mr. Johnnie Ladd, who turned it into a deer hunting park which still exists today! Today there are over 100 member clubs across North America that shoot together every year for fun, competition, education and conservation!

Bedford is a town in Morrow County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Morrow, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bedford is located on the Scioto River east of Dayton and west of Athens. The village of Bedford lies to the south and west of town. The first permanent settlers in what would become Bedford were three men from Lancaster County – John Trimble, Moses Trimble and Solomon Woodward – who arrived in 1790. They built a small log cabin on the Scioto River near present-day Bedford. The first school in what would become Bedford was opened in 1795 by Drury and Mr. Heckerlenbach. The community grew rapidly due to its location along the river and its accessibility by wagon road and boat connection to Columbus and other agricultural areas around Dayton. In 1803, General David Brown granted land to John Trimble for his farmstead called Brownstown (now part of Springfield Township). In 1806, John Trimble donated another piece of land to form what would become Delaware Township (now part of Morrow County). That same year, James Caldwell donated two lots totaling .75 acres (0·20 ha) adjacent to Trimble's farmstead for use as a courthouse square." In 1830, William Allston donated an additional lot for use as a public square in what would become Delaware Township.. This donation formed the nucleus around which much later development took place within Delaware Township including most notably Blue Ash Avenue which runs through downtown Bedford today

Bedford is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the Scioto River about twenty miles north of Cleveland and sixty-five miles east of Cincinnati. The population was 14,851 at the 2010 census. Bedford is one of eight towns in Lucas County, Ohio part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. The first settler in Bedford was James Auld who arrived in 1810 from Scotland. After a brief stay he moved his family to Athens Township where they began to farm land. In 1814 James Auld's son John Auld founded what would become the city of Bedford on land which he had purchased from the trustees for $1,000 cash and three horses. The first post office was established in 1815 and became known as Bedford Junction because it served both Bedford and Athens Township; it closed in 1870 due to lack of customers. In 1830 Peter Rohrer settled near Bedford on land that he had purchased from Edward Tiffin for $2,500cash and three cows after Tiffin's death during a hunting trip overland from Akron to Xenia via Dayton. Rohrer built a small log cabin with four rooms and named it Rohrer House after himself and his wife Rebecca (née Clements). He also erected another small cabin further downriver which later became known as Brown House (now part of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base). A mill race ran through the village forming an important water supply for early settlers; however, this feature no longer exists today as alluvium has covered most of its surface since settlement occurred some 350 years ago when Bedfont Creek emptied into Lake Erie just below present day town limits. However, there are still several large boulders visible along Bedfont Creek between downtown Bedford and its junction with creekbed just upstream from where current day Briggs Street meets creek bed) commemorating this historical event during late Miocene epoch when streams were much narrower flowing only 1/4 mile wide at their widest points due to heavy erosion caused by glaciers advancing across younger glacial ice sheets sculpting today's landscape while depositing huge amounts (~10000 metric tons/day) sedimentary lime & gypsum clayey sediments deposited over 4500 feet thick including up to 12’ deep layer resting on older shale & sandstone beds!
