Bedford, Ohio is a small town that has been in existence since the 1800s. The population was just over 1,000 when it incorporated as a village in 1875, and only grew to around 3,000 by 1910. However, because of its unique history and coffee production, Bedford is well known throughout the United States. Coffee first started being produced in Bedford in the early 1800s. In 1828, Captain John Ledyard founded a small business called The Coffee House on State Street. This grocery store served as the primary source of coffee for local residents and businesses. By 1835, The Coffee House had become one of the largest coffeehouses in Ohio. In 1836, Captain John Ledyard and his son-in-law Will Rogers opened what would becomeKnown asThe Starbuck's Coffee House on High Street. This spot became popular for its delicious coffee and friendly atmosphere. From here on out, Bedford's coffee industry would be dominated by these two businesses. In 1865,Captain John Ledyard's grandson William Denny openedThe Third National Bank downtown which would become an important factor in the growth of Bedford's caffeine industry. After many years of success at this bank, Denny sold his business to George Peake in 1907. In 1909 Manton Manufacturing Company began producing chocolate milk from beans found at their plant located on North Main Street across from The Starbuck’s Coffee House (now known as Bede’s). These days Manton Manufacturing Company produces a variety of products including iced tea and pumpkin spice Latte artichokes

Bedford, Ohio is a small town in the western part of the United States. The population was 9,848 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Bedford County. The area that makes up Bedford was first settled by English colonists in 1795 and became a township in 1827. In 1850, Bedford became an incorporated village when it annexed portions of neighboring Moreland Township. On December 1, 1911, Bedford merged with the adjacent city of Youngstown to form what is now called "Bedford-Youngstown" metropolitan area.
Bedford is a town in Logan County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The first settler in Bedford was James Boyd who moved to the area from Bourbonnais Township in 1825. A post office called Bedford was established in 1827, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1901. The name "Bedford" came from an Indian word meaning "place where I will sleep." In 1830, David Wittenburg settled near what is now Bedford village and named his farm after Bedford County, England. In 1834, John Leland bought land east of present-day Bedford Village and built a gristmill on the Scioto River. From this mill operations continued until 1915 when the last gristmill closed down. In 1837-38, George Stephenson built the first steamboat on the Scioto River and named her "Queen Victoria". She carried passengers and goods upriver to Newark (now Defiance) on Lake Erie for shipment to Cleveland. On October 16, 1839 she made her maiden voyage from Kingston Landing downstream to Dayton with 158 passengers including twelve Native American Kickapoos! This boat pioneered riverboat service between Dayton and Cleveland which lasted for over fifty years! In 1840-41 residents of nearby Xenia formed a company to build a road from Xenia through their community to Little Miami River so that freight could be transported by horseback across country via routes already traveled by stagecoaches! This road became known as the Cincinnati Road! In 1848-49 General David Wilcox fought against Mexican forces during Mexican–American War at San Jacinto Heights near Lexington where he killed Mexico's general Santa Anna destroyed much of Mexico's artillery at Goliad Creek Bridge just south of Lexington without opposition or casualties! Afterward Niles Eldredge increased production at his corn mills following victory over Mexico at Palo Alto Hills; these operations continue until 1865 when all mills were shut down due to competition from new agricultural enterprises started by Andrew Carnegie . By 1870 there were only five small farms left in Bedford Township . By 1900 all but three farms had been abandoned . Only two remain today: one operated as a bed & breakfast inn while another has been converted into housing units
