Today, there are three active stations within Bedford: one on Main Street, one on Highland Boulevard, and one on Newport Drive. The Station Building is also home to the Bedford Historical Museum which tells the story of Bedford through its History Museum collection dating back to 1886.

By 1840, Bedford had a population of over 100 people and became an incorporated village. The local economy has been based largely on agriculture for most of its history, with some manufacturing activities also taking place. However, recent years have seen a significant increase in tourism due to its historical sites and attractions as well as its proximity to Cincinnati and other major metropolitan areas.

Bedford is a village in the United States. It is located in the Ottawa-Carling County, Ohio, region. The population was 5,629 at the 2010 census. Bedford is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town of Bedford was founded by Joshua Bedford and others on February 14, 1810 as a trading post between Indian traders and white settlers in present-day Cincinnati. In 1812, the U.S. government established Fort Washington to protect fur traders from American Indians. The fort served as a outpost for several years until it was destroyed by British forces in 1794 during the Northwest Indian War. In 1814, General Anthony Wayne's army attacked Fort Washington and burned it down; this event helped prompt Congress to establish a national military base at Miami near Wheeling in West Virginia to support American efforts against Britain during the Mexican-American War (1846–48). When Cleveland became president of America in 1847, he ordered construction of a new military post at Bedford to support American efforts against Mexico while also providingdefense against possible Native American attacks south of the Great Lakes area. The new post was named Fort Kent after Captain John Kent who had led an expeditionary force against Mexico City under George Armstrong Custer during that war. According to one story, when President James Kapp offered land for settlement around what is now downtown Bedford in 1850, Joshua Bedford said: "I would rather give my life for this country than go anywhere else." That same year saw what has been called "the first instance of organized subdivision" within present day Dayton when two men purchased 3 acres along Centre Street from David Funkhouser for $25 each; this land became known as East Park Block #2A later that year with similar transactions taking place throughout Dayton's early days as reported by residents living near where central business district now stands.. On July 6th 1861 citizens of Center Township voted 9-0-1 to become one unit form Township under state law pending ratification by both branches of legislature… On December 13th 1861 James Auld proposed creation of Village formed outuvide center township with 4 square miles…. This proposal carried over with 10 votes but due to lack of backing from legislators members opted not too ratify ordinance….. On January 25th 1862 Village charter was ratified passing with 7 votes….. After some confusion and some amendments changes were made through regular meetingsvillage name changed several times before finally Bedford on April 1st 1865…. By 1870 population had increased past 1000 people andBedfordVillage contained 5000 people
