The town had been without a navy base since 1898 when it was sold by its previous owner to Spain as part of their efforts to rejoin the Americas. The Spanish military left behind many unused buildings in Bedford Heights which were then offered up for sale by Mayor John Ahern Jr.. It took some effort but finally on December 10th, 1979 – three days after President Jimmy Carter's announcement that he would send troops home from Afghanistan – Enterprise arrived at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where she would be converted into a navy satellite launcher known as CVA-64 Enterprise (LPH-8). At her launch ceremony on January 12th 1980 she became one of only two US warships ever dedicated exclusively To Cuba (the other being USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 73) which served from 1989-1992). She remained at Portsmouth through most of 1990 before moving permanently ashore at Key West Naval Base; she decommissioned there on October 5th 1993 . In 2001 Enterprise moved again within maritime history when she became commandeered by Commander Mike Mullen aboard his submarine USS Sharkbite while Mullen was leading Operation Neptune’s Spear off North Korea’s coast as part of Operation Coral Sea/ETC Red Flag 2nd Fleet In support of Joint Task Force Blue “Almighty Eagle” These operations took place off North Korea’s coast while also conducting nuclear tests under cover of darkness Just prior Operation Neptune's Spear Commander Mullen surfaced his submersible inside North Korean territorial waters with all hands on deck thus violating international law authorizing no such exercise By doing so Mullen demonstrated his contempt not just For international norms but also For U.S Constitution principles

Bedford Heights is a small town located in the northwest corner of Ohio, just east of Cincinnati. The population was 5,854 at the 2000 census. The name stuck and today most people identify with either Bedminster or Bedford Heights when they say their hometown name. The first post office in Bedford Heights opened on October 15, 1872. It served as an important link between high schools in Perrysburg and Dayton because those towns were then all located within easy drive of each other! In 1907, when Dayton annexed neighbouring Uniontownships (to form Greater Dayton), Bedford Heights became part of that city's new downtown area. From its early days as an agricultural community to its current role as a bedroom community for residents in central Ohio – nothing has changed much about Bedford Heights over the centuries!

It is part of the Dayton–Middletown–Lenoir City micropolitan statistical area. The first permanent settler in Bedford Heights was John Cranch in 1822. He and his family were among the first to purchase land in what would become Dayton Township. In 1865, when Kentucky became an integral part of The United States, Bedford Heights voted to secede from Ohio and join Kentucky as its own state. This decision led to many economic challenges for the community; by 1870, only 10% of residents were still living within Dayton Township boundaries.. Despite these challenges, Bedford Heights persevered over time and achieved some notable milestones: it became one of the few towns east of Chicago that adopted electric lights (1887), attained city status (1910), obtained a library (1921), and hosted its first professional baseball game (1945). In 1951, it merged with nearby Middletown to form another municipally-based town – Middletown–Bedford Heights – which remains today one of the most vibrant communities in central Ohio despite its relatively small size relative to other municipalities within its micropolitan area.).
