The town first became associated with the military when General George Washington was stationed here in 1792. At that time, Bedford Heights was part of the Northwest Territory and was governed by Major General James Wilkinson. It is said that General Washington liked to visit the town and stop by its smallpox clinic, which he caused to be closed because he wanted to show his support for the local people. The American Revolution began in 1775 and quickly spread throughout Ohio. The military played an important role in this event, as they were essential in helping to fight against British forces. Colonel Robert Harrison fought at Battle of Fallen Timbers and helped lead troops into battle against British forces. In 1812, General John Stark sent men to help garrison Fort Stephenson on Canoga Creek after it was captured by Indian forces. This fort served as a major base for operations during the War of 1812. After the war, many soldiers returned home and settled down in Ohio Valley towns such as Bedford Heights. Some of these soldiers took up farming or worked various jobs around town before eventually settling down permanently hereaboutsometime after 1830-32 according to Wm Houghton’s History of Bedford Heights (1856). One group of soldiers from New York City who had arrived in America during this time decided to move back eastward into what is nowBedford Heights but encountered some resistance from locals because they did not believe that Americans should live among them again after experiencing such turmoil on our continent (Galloway). These units later became known as “Yankee Rifles” due to their Yankee accents while serving hereabouts durinvesting days prior (Ferguson). A large contingent of American troops landed at Yorktown Naval Station on September 11th, 1861 following Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation which ended slavery all over America (Kersey). This event marks one significant change within Pennsylvania Avenue whereupon many homes were pillaged & burned including those located along Lancaster Pike near Ringgold Road (& Green Street) during this chaotic & sad period leading upsurrounding events starting November 9th 1863; Fayetteville Observer 3/24/1865 p4 Many residents fled outstripping law enforcement response leaving physical evidence behind postmarked 10/1st 1865 (& 2nd day since raid) note: All residences looted except one garage & 1 barn also contents destroyed

Bedford Heights is an unincorporated community in Licking County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. Bedford Heights is located on State Route 97 south of Bedford and east of Mentor. It lies within the Mentor-Licking County metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now Bedford Heights were farmers who moved from New York City in the mid-19th century. In 1892, a group of investors purchased land near Bedford and formed the town of Bedford Heights. The town was chartered on November 3, 1893. settlement continued until 1907 when it was merged with nearby Mentor into one large municipality. After World War II, many veterans returned to Bedford Heights and began farming again. Commercial development followed after that period; however, most residents still live within their own neighborhoods today.

Bedford Heights is a town in Bedford County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1811 by George Bedford and his wife Martha (née Haskell). The first buildings were erected on the east side of what is now State Route 422. The first post office opened in 1812. In 1816, the village of Bedford Heights was incorporated. A school district was organized in 1920 and renamed Bedford Township School District No. 1 after Bedford Heights residents donated land for a public school system. The township's only store closed in 1980 but it reopened as a gas station/cafeteria later that year. In 1984, the township trustees voted to change its name to Bedford Heights Township because it felt more current than some other namesakes such as "Bedfordville" or "Bedford Hills". In 1990, the township built its first community center which remains an important part of the township today. The center also has a gymnasium and three large parking lots for citizens to use when necessary; one lot is currently used as home court for local high school sports teams and another lot is used by police officers during emergency situations such as fires or car accidents). As well as meeting room, library and many other features common to most townships across America at this time; it became known as "The Town Hall". In 2002-2003, Bedford Heights opened its very own private primary school called "Heritage High School". This new school helped grow taxable income by 10%. By 2006-2007 Heritage had fully graduate all their students with high grades (92%). With this success story under their belt they moved into larger administrative offices across from I-271 which houses much needed retail square footage especially surrounding their major event spaces like band shell & gazebo/patio areas! They are still going strong today over 8 years later making sure each student gets personalized attention just like they did when they walked through those doors!
Bedford Heights was founded in 1802 by George Bedford and his wife Eliza. The first house on the property, which is now part of the University of Akron campus, was built in 1805. Bedford Heights became a township in 1837, and eventually a city in 1907. The city was renamed Cleveland after Cleveland, Ohio, in 1922.
