Beavercreek is a small town in central Ohio, United States. It is the county seat of Butler County. The population was 7,815 at the 2010 census. Beavercreek was founded in 1800 by surveyors from Pennsylvania and Delaware who named it for the beavers that lived there. The first post office was established in 1802. In 1835, the community erected a gristmill on the Cuyahoga River to supply local farmers with flour for their breadbaking businesses. The mill continued to operate until 1917 when it was bought by J.P. Morgan & Company and converted into a power plant. Beavercreek has been appellation since 1907, using its location as an agricultural center and its proximity to Cleveland as its main selling points to prospective home buyers during that time period. The largest manufacturing company in town until 2011 was Alcoa which closed down its operations there around 2006 after years of decline in sales due to competition from China's economy and environmental concerns about aluminum smelters near Beavercreek. However, Alcoa's former plants continue to be used by other companies such as American Electric Power (AEP) as part of their production line at nearby R&D Park., also located within Butler County limits.. In recent years AEP has invested millions of dollars into rehabilitating and expanding several facilities within minutes' walk of their downtown headquarters including one housing 5000 jobs across 150 acres; this increase has caused concern among some residents about potential job displacement should AEP leave town.. Other large employers in Beavercrike include FirstEnergy which operates two power plants adjacent to town limits; GE Capital Services provides IT services for many businesses including Alcoa; WK Kellogg Co., Inc., headquartedown since 2009 builds schools and other major structures throughout downtown Beaver Creek.; Two families have operated an ice cream parlor on Beech Road since 1978 called "the scoop".[1] With all these major employers now gone or moving away, much attention is given now to smaller firms such as Michaels (owned by Sears Holdings) which opened up shop recently inside what had once been WK Kellogg's building plus additional space inside another old factory(now occupied by Lululemon Athletica). even though his store only sells furniture he makes a pretty big impact because not many people know he’s there- especially compared to some larger stores like Macy’s or Sears

Beavercreek is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the Scioto River. The population was 27,021 at the 2010 census. Beavercreek was founded in 1814 by James Ketchum and his brother David as a post office called Greshamville. In 1825, it became part of the new territory of Ohio bequeathed to United States by George Rogers Clark after his successful invasion of Canada during the Napoleonic Wars. As part of that territory, Beavercreek had a land grant from President James Ketchum which included 1,000 acres (400 ha) on the Scioto River near present-day Beavercreek Township and 4 square miles (10 km2) north of Dayton. The town began to take form around 1840 when two brothers named John and Amos Griggs bought 2,000 acres (1 km2) in what is now eastern Beavercreek Township and began to build homes there. At first they built log cabin structures, but soon started constructing more elaborate houses with stone blocks and hewn timber. By 1860, John Griggs had built an elegant brick building known as "The Mansion" which served as the town's first courthouse and jail until it burned down in 1875. By 1870, Beavercreek had become one of the largest towns in Northwest Ohio; its population exceeded 10,000 people for only a few short years before declining due to various factors including agricultural depression caused by low prices for corn and other crops; motherhood becoming important among working women; and railroad development making transportation more affordable for many residents). In 1907–08,[1] Edwin Hustedt directed construction work on Cleveland State University's then-new main campus at what is now Euclid Avenue and Spring Street NW in central Beavercrikee[2]. That same year also saw significant growth within downtown when General Electric moved its operations from Decatur into downtown Cleveland following its acquisition of Westinghouse Electric Corporation.[3] Downtown businesses grew rapidly during this period thanks to GE's success in developing electric streetlights throughout Northeast Ohio while also establishing local manufacturing capabilities such as radios,[4] television receivers,[5],[6],[7],[8], phonographs[9], books[10], typewriters,[11],[12], dishwashers/dryers[13],[14][15]and appliances like refrigerators/freezers/air conditioning units etc., some still being manufactured today! By 1970s suburbanization had begun taking hold within northeast Ohio with larger municipalities such as Cincinnati moving outwards towards richer suburbs while smaller villages such as Beechcroft shrank back into their own communities until all but one community – Whitehall – merged with nearby Dayton in 1999 creating what is now Greater Dayton.[16][17][18] With continued economic decline throughout much of the 1990s culminating inusterial mass shootings such as those that took place at Columbine High School (April 20th 1998)[19][20]) local politicians responded by enacting stricter gun control laws which have since been repealed or changed significantly (for example see "Beavercreek history timeline: 1996-2013" below).[21][22][23]).
