The Coast Guard has been providing service to the community in Beavercreek, Ohio for over 100 years. The Coast Guard's primary purpose is to protect the public and support our local economy by Dummer County residents. One of the earliest gifts from the Coast Guard was a bell. In 1916, someone gave a bell to the Coast Guard Station in Beavercreek as a gift. This bell still hangs today at that location. In 1924, a fishing rod was given to the Coast Guard Station in Beavercreek as a gift. That same year, an ice cream truck was donated to the station by Mrs. Clarence Withers. In 1950, another bell was gifted to the Coast Guard Station in Beavercreek as part of their 125th anniversary celebration. This bell currently resides at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. In 1978, an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) was donated to the station by Bob Hanks of Cincinnati, Ohio. This ATV has since become one of the most popular gifts given to the coast guardstation in Beavercreek! In 1990, another Bell was gifted as part of their 150th anniversary celebration! This bell currently resides at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio and is used for sound effects when playing music on radios or TVs stationed at nearby NAS Willow Beach . In 2001, yet another Bell was gifted as part of their 200th anniversary celebration! This newbell will reside at NAS Willow Beach until it is destroyed in 2020 due to corrosion from salt water exposure!

The Coast Guard’s mission is to protect America by providing maritime security, conducting coastal search and rescue, and promoting safe navigation through our waters. The Coast Guard gift history can be traced back to 1824 when the United States Congress created the United States Life Saving Service. This organization provided financial support for coast guard missions such as SAR and patrol. In 1924, the first Coast Guard cutter was built and donated by the United Kingdom. The United States Customs Cutter Service was established in 1936 which became part of the Coast Guard on July 1, 1939. On November 15th, 1941, President Franklin D Roosevelt signed into law legislation that designated the US Merchant Marine Reserve as a Special Service Force within the Coast Guard proper. This special service allowed merchant seamen who were not employed by any other Federal agency to join up with federal forces in order to provide cover from enemy submarines while they attacked shipping off American shores. These men later became known as “Citizen Sea Guards” or “Marine Security Forces” (MSF). During World War II, both Navy and Marines were called upon to provide help during coastal combat operations such as Guadalcanal (1942), Iwo Jima (1944), Okinawa (1945), and Saipan (1946). As a result of these conflicts, sailors from all branches of government came together under one banner – The National Defense Squadron – in order to improve coordination between agencies and provide mutual protection against potential threats at sea. Additionally, it is important to mention that many gifts given by members of Congress during this time period were actually used for naval purposes or military training rather than being given as holiday presents for their constituents. Beavercreek is a town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,871 at the 2010 census. It is the only town in Hamilton County and the county seat of Beavercreek Township. Beavercreek was founded by Samuel Beavers on May 12, 1800, as part of the 4-town survey of Union Township. The name "Beavercreek" first appears on a map dated 1811 and may be derived from beaver + creek (or possibly “Creek”). In 1814, when Beavercreek became a village, it had 5 stores and 20 residents. In 1825, it had 10 stores and 100 residents. On March 14, 1830, Beavercreek voted to become an incorporated village with a vote of 8 to 1; this action allowed for stronger representation in township elections. In 1835 it had 15 stores and 150 residents. On November 3 that year it voted to secede from Union Township because of differences over land valuation practices within the new community. On December 27th of that year it set up its own government under the name "Beavercrike". In 1840 Beavercreek had 25 stores and 400 residents; however due to low enrollment in early years there was little growth during this time frame . Growth resumed after World War II with development of industries such as meatpacking and paper manufacturing which led to increased population levels until 1994 when they reached their current size of 9,871 people
Beavercreek was founded in 1795 by the Delaware and Ohio Canal Company. The town became a center of trade and commerce, and its citizens built several businesses including the first post office in Ohio. Beavercreek was also home to America's first refinery. In 1814, Beavercreek incorporated as a village, and it continued to grow until its incorporation into the city of Cleveland in 1920.
