In 1915, Johnnie Ladd opened his own shop on State Road 516 just outside of town; however, this shop never achieved much success due to limited sales bandwidth and competition from more popular shops within town (Ladd himself would later close his business after moving away). In 1925, Don Easley reopened his old schoolhouse near where he had originally purchased land back in 1912 as a pistol range; however this range proved unsuccessful because there wasn’t enough demand for ammunition at that time (Easley would later reopen another Pistol Range inside of town).
