The Bay Area Air Force Museum (BAFM) is a museum in the city of Bay City, Ohio. It was founded in 1959 and is the only air force museum located outside of the United States. The museum has an collection of over two thousand aviation artifacts and memorabilia from the United States Air Force. The BAFM is also home to one of America's largest aircraft displays, which includes more than fifty types of aircraft from World War II to the present day. The museum also has a reproduction hangar that can house up to four McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle fighter jets each. In 2013, BAFM opened its new $27 million hangar that can house up to six Boeing 747 airplanes and three McDonnell Douglas DC-9 Dash 8 Lodges. This addition increases the number of available seats for visitors to see American fighter planes from all eras at once.

Bay, Ohio is a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In 1814, Bay was incorporated as a village and then as a town in 1835. The population of Bay was 584 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Muskegon River between Grand Rapids and Sault Ste Marie. Bay has several attractions including: the Stonington Aquarium, which opened in 2002; The Bay County Fairgrounds; and the Bay Harbor Center which opened in 2000. There are also several churches in Bay including First Baptist Church, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Methodist Episcopal Church, and Presbyterian Churches. Bay is known for its fishing and boatbuilding industries. Some of the boats built here include those used by John F Kennedy when he was Vice President of the United States (1961-1963), Neil Armstrong when he became the first human to walk on Mars ( 1969), and Gordon Gekko during his time as CEO of Goldman Sachs (1981-1985).
The United States Air Force has a rich history that goes back to World War I. The first American air force was formed on October 1, 1915 when the National Guard joined the war effort against Great Britain. In 1917, America became a belligerent in World War I and contributions from both the military and civilians emerged in support of Allied victory. In 1934, Congress passed legislation providing for the creation of an air force as part of the National Defense Act. By 1945, America had become one of the world’s leading nations in terms of military aviation and had fielded more than 120 aircraft types. However, during World War II America found itself at war with Nazi Germany and its allies known as the Axis Powers. In order to fight this conflict effectively, America needed an armada of bombers capable of carrying large amounts of bombs and missiles over great distances. This new air force was designated Eighth Air Force and it was under command of General Curtis LeMay that began development of what would come to be known as Operation Varsity —the largest wartime bomber campaign in history. With such resources at his disposal, LeMay created a network of bases across North America that could be used to launch strategic bombing campaigns against targets within enemy territory. This strategy resulted in critical victories for American forces throughout World War II including D-Day Normandy Invasion and Battle Of Saipan which helped secure Japan’s surrender.

Bay, Ohio was settled by the Potawatomi Indians in the late 18th century. The first post office in Bay was established in 1824, and the town was named for Commodore James bay (1786-1846), a naval officer who fought against Spanish America. In 1850, Bay became part of the newly formed Cuyahoga County. It lost its status as a county seat when it moved to Cleveland in 1907. The first store in Bay was built on what is now First Street and Museum Drive. In 1853, Bay had two churches: the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Baptist church. In 1865, the cornerstone of what is now Bay United Methodist Church was laid. The village of Bay grew rapidly after incorporation into Cleveland in 1907; by 1916, it had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1920, General Electric began production at their new factory on Factory Road north of downtown Cleveland; this madeBay one of Ohio's leading industrial towns. By 1930,Bay had 2 mills and 12 small businesses employing more than 100 people; it also boasted two schools: Stroud School and Bellefontaine School which were both founded in 1911. After World War II ended with Japan's occupation of Korea, many American workers decided to stay behind and build homes or start businesses inBay; these entrepreneurs helped transformbay into an urban center with large blocks of high-rise buildings that still dominate today’s skyline."
Bay is a small community located on the eastern shores of Bay City, in Bay County, Ohio. The community was founded by George and Mary (Ferguson) Bay in 1868. It was named for the bay that separates the town from Cincinnati.
