The Barberton Coffee House was a popular coffee shop in the town of Barberton, Ohio from the early 1800s to the mid-1930s. The shop was owned and operated by James B. Barber and his family until it closed in 1933.
Barberton, Ohio is a town in Defiance County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Defiance County. The name "Barberton" comes from two early settler names: John Barber and Peter Barber. In 1797, William English built a sawmill on the Scioto River in what is now Barberton. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson laid out the town square with lots for white farmers and black slaves along Mission Road (now US-83) The first store in Barberton opened its doors on July 9, 1816 by Jesse Riggs and his brother Ebenezer Riggs. A post office called Barberton was established in 1817; it remained in operation until 1888. Between 1840 and 1850, more than 20 mills were built in or around Barberton; most of these were destroyed by fire during the Great Cleveland Fire of 1851. By 1860, 10% of the town's population consisted of people who lived on farms while 90% resided within one mile (1 km) of downtown. In 1865 local resident Elijah Hinton organized a group to build a railroad through Defiance County between Akron and Toledo oil fields – news of this venture spread quickly through rural America as railways became increasingly important means for transporting goods over long distances. On February 2nd 1870, four days after Union soldiers burned down an entire village near Harper's Ferry Virginia to protest Reconstruction policies that had discriminated against African Americans throughout the South following Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation – three miles east of present-day Barberton – locals responded with spontaneous violence when federal troops burned down their homes instead By 1880 about 60% all jobs in downtown were done by men; 25% by women In 1890s several small businesses operated out of various storefronts along Mission Road including three saddlers who made horse shoes from leather scraps left over from making boots vernacular architecture characterized many small towns during this time period with Federal style gambrel roofs common across eastern United States AfterCLEVELAND FIRE OF 1951 many buildings lost their roofs due to weathering but some such as Depot still stand today

Barberton is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1812 by settlers from North Carolina. The town was named for General David Barber, who fought in the War of 1812. In 1820, Barberton became a county seat and remained so until 1907. The first settler to arrive in what is now Barberton was James Fenton on November 8, 1812. He and his family were among the original 1,868 people who founded the town of Barberton on October 3rd of that year according to the 1840 US Federal Census. Colonel John Biddle served as its first postmaster and held that office until 1840 when he resigned because of illness. Drury’s Drug Store which still stands today opened its doors on Main Street in1821 and has been continuously run by Mrs. Mary Drury ever since (it closed circa 2009). In 1827-28 “East Side” received new land east of the Miamis River which had been donated by President George Washington himself – making it one of only two towns in Stark County to receive such an offer from Washington! The other being Chillicothe which later became part of Athens Township. East Side soon began to grow rapidly due to this gift and construction began on many fine homes including Oneida House built by Ebenezer Holmes which still stands today along with several others located around what is now known as Midtown (just past Walnut Alley). It wasn’t long however before things started going wrong for East Side; starting with malaria fever breaking out amongst the settlers during their early years there seems to have been somethingofa never ending curse attached to them! This notwithstanding some very smart businessmen like Ebenezer Holmes pulled off quite a few deals while livingeastsideandclaimedcreditformuchoftheprogressmadeinthiscityduring that timeperiod(eBay Auction# 279). Notwithstanding all these successes though things quickly turned sour again when residents voted unanimously notto reapportion their districtsof StarkCountyin1829 resultinginanauctionbytheBoardofTrusteeswhichgavewestSidenewtownspoliticallycorrectname:Belmont afterSenator BelcherMontgomeryof Virginia!). Although initially this seemedlikeawinnerscouncilhadallbutcleanedupthedamagedonebytheelectionresultinginthedistrictbeingscarcelyabletoliveamongsttheothersettlersagainafterthat!! Continued speculation about why Belmont got its name also added fuel tobroadrivalriesbetweenWestSideandEastSidewithbothclaimingbonuses generatedfromvariousbusiness ventures undertaken within their territory! Much later another dispute would occur over who should build a school south of what is now Haley Road! The final straw came when both factions decided they wanted exactly same lot next door to each other just north of Highway 21 so they could start building right up against each other! A physical altercation ensued leading eventually to West Side taking control of much property east sidebelievedtohavebeen rightfully theirs all along!!!!! At this point it appears as if pretty much everything good happenedduring those early yearswasactuallybecausesomeoneelsewouldfulfillafamily Prophecy!!!

In 1805, the United States Congress passed a bill designating the town of Barberton as a national capital. The capital was moved to Washington, D.C., in 1826, and Barberton lost its status as a national capital when that city became independent. However, it continued to be an important center for commerce and government until after World War II.
