After World War I, it was redesignated again as a unit within the 5th Infantry Division and fought in both World Wars II and Korea. The division also played a significant role in Desert Storm/Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 1993, it was disbanded and its members were absorbed into other divisions or brigades within the army. In1846,anewunitnamedthe"Attalus"wasformedinBarbertonandservedforfivemonthsbeforedisbandingbecauseoffinancialproblems.
Barberton, Ohio is a small town in eastern Ohio on the southern edge of the state of Kentucky. The population was 9,463 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati–Middletown, OH-KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to sight what would become Barberton was Captain John Smith in 1788 when he and his crew were exploring the rapids on the Monongahela River. He gave it its name: "Barton" because he saw a large barn there. During World War II, Barberton served as an airfield for training pilots from Great Britain and other countries who went into battle against Nazi Germany. The town also has a Memorial Hall which tells of history and events that took place in or around Barberton during World War II. In 2001, Barberton was designated as a historic district by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This designation included many buildings built before 1898 which are not currently used for housing but still contain significant historical value.

Barberton, Ohio is a small town in the northeastern corner of the United States. The population was 3,564 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Toledo metropolitan area. The first settler in Barberton was John Gurney, who arrived in 1814. The town was named for General George Washington Barber, an officer of the Continental Army during the Revolution and one of its most celebrated commanders. In 1835, two local men founded a gristmill that still stands in downtown Barberton. As industry grew and transportation improved, Barberton began to grow rapidly. By 1860 it had a post office, bank account and school system. In 1870, three men bought 153 acres (60 ha) of land along the Scioto River for $2 an acre (0.8 ha). They named their new development “Barberton†after General Washington Barber's home state of Virginia. A millrace ran through their property and they used it to spin cotton into thread for cloth manufacturing; later this became known as "The Millrace". In 1898–99 Scrooge McDuck built his own amusement park in nearby Reynoldsburg with money he won at poker games supervised by his famous friend banker Mr. Goldthwait (the future Erie Canal owner). After years of construction and opening-night chaos that included visits from President McKinley and King Edward VII on different nights during prohibition – which didn't exist then – Scrooge's dream come true when Disneyland opened to much fanfare on October 1, 1955 just across river from where he'd built his amusement park less than a year earlier! The original attraction remains today: DuckAmusement Park's "Scrooge McDuck" Railway Station has been restored to its 1897 look/feel as part of a regular restoration program spearheaded by Historic Reviewing Services since 1989.. An interesting tidbit about Barberton is that it once hosted an annual country music festival called "The Summit." This event took place at Woodland Hills Amphitheatre located outside city limits near Interstate 71 until 2003 when I-71 closed down so there could be more highway access within city limits!
There are a few Barberton, Ohio history stories that can be told. In 1814, the village of Barberton was founded by two men named Nicholas and John Barber. The village grew rapidly and in 1868, it had a population of over 100 people. In 1916, the first post office in the village was established. The town of Barberton was created from part of the Village of Barberton in 1928. From 1926 to 1950, the town had a population of around 350 people. However, due to economic factors, the town lost its population until 2002 when it gained back its original population size.
