On December 8th, 1938, Coughlin gave a boat called The Lady Jane IIto Mrs Lillian Dickson who resided on Seaweed Island off of Erie County shoreline in central Ohio.. Dickson was then director general for marketing operations for American Airlines Corporation (AAL) and had formerly worked with CNMI airlines before becoming associated with AAL.. This gift was not only significant because it was the first coast guard boat donated to Aurora since 1924 but also because it represented a new era for the Coast Guard thanks to Coughlin's involvement with NMB and AAL.. Aurora, Ohio is a town in the northwest corner of Ohio, United States. The population was 25,830 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Aurora has been nicknamed "The City on the Lake" because it sits on an arm of Lake Erie. The first permanent settler in what is now Aurora Township was George Rogers Clark in 1795. He and his family were among the original settlers who founded Cincinnati. In 1803, General William Henry Harrison established Fort Dearborn here as a winter military post to protect Canada from British invaders during their war with America. The post was abandoned in 1814 after troops were killed by Native Americans raiding Canadian settlements along the Great Lakes region east of Detroit River. In 1836, Congress passed an act recognizing that there was land offering large tracts for settlement in what are now West Central Ohio and Hamilton County (now Warren County). The name "Aurora" was given to this tract by one of its early participants, John Ziegler. On March 20, 1840, Aurora Township became a division of Hamilton County when it was created from portions of Muskingum and Wyandotte counties following the US Mexican–American War hysteria known as The Kansas-Nebraska Act (1846). When Hamilton County became a county in 1870, Aurora lost its status as a township but retained its name until consolidation into Cuyahoga County in 1907 under state law providing for such changes; Auroras incorporation had already occurred on October 10 that year under identical circumstances . Municipal reorganization and annexation followed within Cuyahoga County until all local government functions were placed within new unincorporated villages called Riverside on April 1, 1965 – less than two months before Cleveland's official incorporation into Greater Cleveland under statehood late that year .
