The coast guard gift history in Athens, Ohio dates back to 1909. The first Coast Guard Station was established in Athens, Ohio on October 3rd, 1909. At that time the Coast Guard had only two stations- one at the Inner Harbor and one at the Ohio State University campus. In 1922 the Coast Guard relocated its headquarters from Armoury Street to Government House on Broad Ripple Avenue in downtown Athens. On November 25th of that year a new Coast Guard Chapel was dedicated on Constitution Avenue in front of City Hall. The chapel was built by local architect John Hitt and cost $5,000. It served as the Headquarters for the Athens Chapter of American Legion from 1922 until it disbanded in 1951. In 1936 a new station was built at Third Court Northeast in downtown Cincinnati which became known as "Harrison". The station served as Headquarters for both the Cincinnati and Dayton Chapters of American Legion until they merged into One chapter in 1948. In 1950 a new station was built at First Court Southeast in Toledo which became known as "Ferguson". The station served as Headquarters for both Chapters until they merged into one chapter too late to be included here. In 1957 Captain George Epperson assumed command of NAS Cleveland - then located at Marysville Naval Air Facility - and moved his office to NAS Cleveland Bayfront where he oversaw all aspects of naval aviation operations within Greater Cleveland area including United States Marine Corps air units stationed there aboard Navy ships during exercises off shore nuclear testing locations like Rocky Flats Atomic Test Site and Sandia National Laboratories . He also supervised physical security activities at NAS Cleveland Bayfront where he directed traffic control while Marines acted as emergency response unit providing medical service when needed ashore or offshore during high pressure weather conditions etc.. Athens, Ohio is a small town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,835 at the 2010 census. Athens was founded in 1811 as a post office and named for the ancient Greek city of Athens. It became an agricultural center and manufacturing center during the 19th century. In 1925, Athens become the seat of government for Stark County when it was created from portions of Lucas County. The townsite Later absorbed part of Athens Township. The original village of Athens consisted of just a few homes and a store on Beaver Road near what is now its downtown district. From 1811 to 1830, there were no permanent residents in Athens; people only visited or stayed occasionally until they moved on to other places in the area. In 1833, John Neely started an elevator company in Athens and soon began construction on what would become Neely Tower (later known as The State House). This building still stands today as one of the most iconic landmarks in town – it served as both the local courthouse from 1833-1892 and also housed various municipal offices up until 1959. In 1881-1882, businessmen James Purdy and George Waddell developed land around what is now downtown into what would become the former Village Green Shopping Center - this development later became home to numerous businesses including Checkershot Grocery (now JCPenney), Dillard's Department Store (now Macy's), and Sears Roebuck & Co.'s Fifth Avenue flagship store before being leveled by fire in 1974. During Reconstruction period following American Civil War (1861-1865), many Greeks who had fled Union sympathizers returned to their homes in central Ohio seeking refuge from violence erupting there following that conflict - some settling permanently within present day Athens while others temporarily relocated there while looking for new opportunities elsewhere after their homes were destroyed or confiscated by Union forces during that time period amidst much political instability throughout America due to continuing tensions between North/South America over slavery issues etcetera etcetera). Among these returning refugees were several families who emigrated directly from then newly acquired Greece itself with their children - among these arrivals were brothers Nikolaos Koutsantonis (father) and Nikolaos Koutsantonis Jr.(brother) eventually coming to live permanently within present day Homer Armory Park adjacent to US 21 Business Loop south side abduction road east side along abduction road - here they operated a general merchandise business together under their own name until his death circa 1937 which left behind three sons Nikolaos III., Alexios(Athanasius)and Demetrios all born within those years subsequent thereto including current owner Athanasios Koutsantonis who purchased property adjacent thereto circa 2004 thru 2006 having resided therein since childhood; father Nikolaos Koutsantonis Sr.-died aged 86 years old Dec 3 2006 AZS After four decades during which time mail service between Columbus, Ohio via train through Xenia ran daily except Sundays days when it stopped due to high demand for mail services across state lines during Reconstruction era resulting increased smuggling activity resultant from lack thereof then General Assembly passed act dated July 15 1870 establishing county seat at Franklin rather than Xenia thereby reducing dependency uponXenia for mail service effective January 1 1871 thereby limiting number of occupants per year inhabitant list expanded accordingly per Act seeHistory section below for more details In response Franklin had always been desireable place by residents because its location made it convenient not only geographically but also economically due to abundance of railroad connections nearby making goods transported fast & easy across state lines readily available without having to go down into southern part of state & wait long periods6 months+ maybe longer depending on traffic conditions back then transportation wasn't very reliable either so travelers could get things done right away instead waiting aroundWaiting around till something happened kinda defeats purpose ya know? however law says seat must be located where people live so Franklin took over alright [ Fort Stroudsburg finally becoming Columbus] however at least we got our name change correct didn't we? goddamn you Georgia!
