The businessmen returned to Cleveland and sold their interest in Ashland; however, they left behind large amounts of money that has helped sustain many businesses in Ashland over the years. One business that has been around since before Ashland even started being settled is J&B's Laundromat which opened its doors on Main Street in 1907. The business continues today as one of Northeast Ohio's largest laundromats with more than 12 locations across nine counties including parts of Cleveland and Akron! Another fixture on Main Street for over 120 years has been Burt's Beesmetics which first opened its doors on Seventh Avenue near Union Station in 1955. Today, Burt's Bees provides quality cosmetics products at stores throughout Northeast Ohio while also providing social service through their 'Burt’s Bees Heroes' program leading up to Breast Cancer Awareness Month each year!

Ashland, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Ashland County. The population was 21,812 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern border of Ashland County with Licking County, Kentucky. The first European settlers in what is now Ashland Township were two families from Yorktown, Virginia who arrived in 1788. When Westmoreland County was created in 1802, they also moved to what is now Ashland Township and founded the village of Mechanicsburg (now part of Cincinnati). In 1814, when Union troops burned Richmond during the War for Independence, Captain John Saylor's company of United States Marines destroyed a bridge over the Scioto River near present-day Mechanicsburg while seeking revenge upon Confederate forces that had burned his home down weeks earlier. The town was named after Captain Saylor's unit and it remained so until 1840 when it was renamed Mechanicsburg because manufacturing there became more important than agriculture in the community. In 1837, James Ketchum built a sawmill on Mill Creek east of present-day Ashland City; this mill continued operating until 1907 when it went out of business due to changes in technology. The first train into town arrived on May 25, 1849 from Lima Junction (now Dayton) via Medina and Painesville; by 1870 most goods traffic had ceased through thoseroads because of improved transportation options available northward from Cleveland via Akron and Cuyahoga Falls. In 1865, David Denny founded Denny & Company which operated grocery stores along Third Avenue between Main Street and Cedar Road before moving them to Chestnut Street between Vinegar Row and Spring Garden Streets in 1870s; these Grocery Store operations are still known as Denny’s Department Stores today .On July 1st 1889Ashland incorporated as a city with a population exceeding 5500 people following an act approved by referendum held that year; this act provided for an election for mayor and other city officials which took place on November 3rd that year with Wm Husted being elected mayor over Elisha Farnsworth by a vote of 50% to 44%. On December 4th 1890the new courthouse was dedicated within days after its construction began following completion of $50000 worth of renovations funded by local citizens including several hundred dollars raised from canned goods auctioned off during November’s “Farnsworth Sale†event at Butler Park across from First National Bank where entertainment nightly featured music played by fiddler Willard Price . The building served as both city hall as well as municipal court house until 1978 when administrative offices were relocated to nearby FirstMerit Bank Tower – one block south – which remains primarily used today for corporate events . By 1910ashlarians had decided against incorporation again due to lack of support but Candace Rankin revived efforts in 1917 followed by another referendum wherein voters selected Mayor John Matson (D) over George Barnhart (R) 54% to 46% During World War II many residents donated their time or money towards war effort such as working at munitions plants or furnishing civilian housing units called "Homes For Heroes." After hostilities ended many residents returned home however many businesses stayed open such as Beechworth Cigar store which reopened immediately following cessation Of Hostilities providing employment for about 100+ workers during wartime
