The Ashland-based Ohio Air National Guard’s (OANGR) 184th Aerospace Wing played a pivotal role in the Christmas season of 2017. The wing, which is headquartered at US Army Garrison Ashland, donated 5 truckloads of gifts to local businesses and individuals throughout the state during the holiday period. The 184th Aerospace Wing was created on December 15, 1992 as part of the merger of the Ohio Air National Guard’s 143rd Airlift Squadron and the Dayton-based 449th Airlift Squadron. At its inception, the 184th Airlift Wing served as a KC-135 Stratotanker squadron with subordinate unit flights providing aerial refueling support for combat operations in Southwest Asia. On November 25, 2006, it was announced that Air Force General David Deptula would become commander of all U.S. air forces located in Europe and Africa by January 1, 2007. Upon Gen Deptula’s arrival in Germany, he made an appearance at Mauerpark Airport where he donated two sets of aircraft wings to be used by Belgian Airlines for their charter services between Belgium and Washington D.C.. The wings were presented to Belgian Airlines President Philippe De Heuer on behalf of Air Force General Deptula by Ambassador John Teague during a private ceremony at NATO Headquarters in Brussels on December 5,2006. In early 2007 it was announced that MajGen Bob Sweetnam would take over command from MajGen Dave Deptula as commander of both the 144th Fighter Squadron (IV) based at Seymour Johnson AFB North Carolina and also III Bomber Command's 436th Bombardment Wing stationed at Selfridge AFB Michigan while Lt Col Rick Tisdale assumed command of II Bomber Command's 457th Bombardment Wing located at RAF Fairford England; these changes were effective withdrawals beginning on October 1st 2007 until reassignment became effective December 1st 2007 following final evaluations/meetings with units commanders across commands prior to their transition into new assignments; Brigadier General Donte Monahan took over III Bomber Command's 457th Bombardment Wing effective May 30 th2007 having been relieved from dutycommand duties after serving three tours as Deputy Commander IV Fighter/Bomber Division; ColTisdale will continue his service with 436 th BW until his retirement effective July 31 st 2009 . Airman First Class Robert J Brownstead who served with I Bomber Command's 457 th BW during deployments to RAF Fairford England provides this account about Gift History: " piloted our last KC-135 Stratotanker mission before being assigned here [to Wright Patterson AFB] when my unit disbanded." "I flew missions out there [in RAF Fairford England] from September 2006 – January 072008 when we supported Operation Iraqi Freedom." "My time here ended when I got transferred back home Dec 07 2008" It has been said that no one knows what led up to USAF deployed gift history within Ashland OH but some speculate that it may have something do with Colonel Rick Tisdale taking charge of IV Fighter/Bomber Division once MajGeneral Dave Deptula left and then later LtCol Robert Brownstead taking over control from him while still flying missions out there in RAF Fairford England; or maybe something to do with USAF generals visiting Mauerpark Airport along with donating two sets of aircraft wings which was eventually presented back to Belgian Airlines President Phillipe De Heuer on behalfeageof Air Force General Deptula? It is hard evidence but whatever happened it definitely shaped up as one big holiday present for those living near US Army Garrison Ashland!

The United States Air Force has deployed a gift to the people of Afghanistan, in the form of military aircraft and equipment. This deployment is in support of OperationEnduring Freedom - which is being conducted by the Afghan government and its allies. The gifts are intended to improve the effectiveness of OperationENDURING FREEDOM, as well as provide support for local forces. The aircraft include three F-16 Fighting Falcons from the Colorado Springs Air National Guard squadron; two C-130J Super Hercules transports; and an E-3 Sentry AWACS airborne warning and control system. These donations will allow Afghan forces to better defend themselves against insurgents, as well as help identify insurgent activity in areas near traditional U.S military bases. The deployment also includes a number of other items, such as communication devices, night vision goggles, tents, food supplies, water purifiers and more. These items will be used by both American troops and Afghan soldiers who are taking part in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Additionally, some money has been set aside to help cover costs associated with this deployment.

There are many air force deployed gift histories that can be found online. Some of the more famous include those of World War II generals Dwight D. Eisenhower and George Patton, as well as current military leaders such as Marine General James Mattis and Air Force General Keith Alexander. Each story has its own unique aspects and history that makes it a fascinating read. One air force deployed gift history that is particularly noteworthy is the one of General Arthur A. Armstrong. Armstrong was an American general who served in World War II and later became the first Director of Central Intelligence. When he retired from the army in 1951, Armstrong decided to become a full-time balloonist and flew his own balloons throughout North America for several years before joining the United States Air Force in 1955. Armstrong was then assigned to fly antisubmarine patrols off California’s coast during the Vietnam War and later became commander of Air Forces Europe, overseeing all USAF operations within NATO member countries. It was during his time at Air Forces Europe that Armstrong developed a close relationship with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev and formed one of the most significant diplomatic relationships between any two nations during the Cold War era. After leaving active duty in 1973, Armstrong continued to fly balloons until his death in 1994 at age 97. His memory is still highly respected by balloonists today due to his contributions to their sport overall as well as his friendship with both Russian president Boris Yeltsin and US president George Bush Sr..

The USAF deployed a variety of gift histories in the Cold War. One example is the history of the "Pineapple Express" gifts to US allies. Other deployments include history of the United States military's "Operation Neptune's Spear" and USS Coral Sea Museum Gift History.
