By the early 1970s, Stanley's had become one of America’s leading roasters with two locations – one on Main Street and one on Broadway – throughout rural North Dakota. In 1984, Stanley KayCompany merged with National Coffee Company (NBC) which was then part of Peet’s Corporation (Pepsi). Pepsi continued to operate as an independent company until it was bought by Coca Cola in 2002. That same year, NBCUniversal merged with Time Warner Incorporated (CNN/UA) creating what is now known as Comcast Corporation (CMCSA). At that point, NBCUniversal transferred all assets of Time Warner including its roasting business including Stanley Kay Company to CMCSA who continue operations today under the name United Coffee Roasters Limited (UCR).
In 1882, a small town in North Dakota named Williston was founded by early pioneers. The town grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 100 residents. Today, Williston is one of the most successful small towns in the United States, with a vibrant economy and strong community spirit. The history of Williston goes back to 1881 when postman John Fetterman arrived in the area to prospect for gold. He foundinite but his family quickly realized that this was not their dream land. So they returned home to Missouri where they started a family business buying groceries from local farmers. The Fettermans were determined to find good land and build themselves an empire in North Dakota. In 1898, John Fetterman's son-in-law, Luther Beadle, bought 8 miles of railroad track east of Williston for $1,000 dollars – making it the first time that railroad buyers hadever acquired property north of Fargo. This decision changed the course of North Dakota's history as it became one of the states fastest growing regions during the 19th century due to its importance as a transportation hub between Minnesota and Omaha Nebraska! LutherviFetterman died suddenly while on vacation in 1910 at age 59 leaving his wife Ida (née Beattie)and two children behind; Earl Beadle (1911-1995), who married Louise Beattie (1914-2009), and Stanley Beattie (brought up by his father). Stanley worked at his father's grocery store until he opened his own business in 1949 which remains open today -Williston Merchants Grocery Co., Incorporated-. Earl Beadle created what is now known as "Williston’s" nickname which began with “W” because he liked how it sounded: When people would call him “Willa” or just “Bella” he would say back “I don't know about that – why do you ask?” But eventually everyone got used to it so there wasn't any need for a name change! After Stanley built his store next door on First Avenue N., he decided to put up another building which still stands today -the Stanley Building -to accommodate more customers! In 1957, WNLX signed an affiliation agreement with CBS Radio Corporation giving them access to all our programming including live music concerts! At this point we were one station under one roof! Over time we added other businesses such as convenience stores (Chex Mart), dry cleaners (Dry Cleaners', Inc.), gas stations/convenience stores ('The GAS STATION', 'Granite Gas Station'), restaurants ('The Chinese Restaurant'), health clubs ('Health Club & Athletic Club'), etc... And finally in 1998 we merged with our neighbor -Shawnee Broadcasting Company whose studios are located just down the street from us at 5405 South Broadway Street - forming what is now known as "NBC affiliate WNDU".

Williston was founded in 1881 by a group of farmers who had migrated from Minnesota. The town became a small, remote community until World War I, when it joined the United States military and supplied troops during the war. After the war, Williston grew rapidly as a result of new industry and agriculture. The population peaked at 22,000 in 1940, but declined to 10,000 by 1960. In recent years, however, Williston has grown again as a result of its location near the Dakota Access Pipeline and its role in the oil boom of North Dakota. The history of Williston is intimately connected with that of North Dakota itself. The area that now makes up North Dakota was first populated by Native Americans who hunted and gathered resources here. When white fur traders arrived in this region in the early 1800s they encountered these people and began trading with them. By 1840 many Indian villages were located around present-day Fargo and Bismarck; however, only about 20% of the population lived within 5 miles (8 km) of each other. In 1881, five farmers purchased land northeast of present-day Williston from Pierre Le Moyne for $1 per acre (0.50 ha). This purchase enabled these men to start a farming colony which would grow into one of America’s most successful farms – Williston Plantation – for more than 100 years! over 1 million acres (40%of North Dakota) were irrigated through irrigation systems built here! During World War II much effort went into creating an airfield at Dillingham Field on what is now known as Red River County Road 2 south-west of Williston proper; this field served as RAF Bomber Command’s headquarters during World War II both day and night! Additionally, production at nearby Ohlone Bend No 3 Mine played an important role in helping to support American victory over Japan! Today there are dozens if not hundreds OF businesses clustered around downtown Williston; some dating back to before 1900 while others have arisen recently thanks to advances in technology! This growth has posed challenges for both locals AND visitors alike – especially given how little public space remains within walking distance today compared to even just 25 years ago!
The first white people to set foot on the land now known as North Dakota were fur traders from Siberia in 1867. The area was part of the Russian Fur Empire, and the traders traded with Native Americans for goods such as hides and meat. In 1876, a group of farmers founded the town of Williston on the Missouri River. The town grew quickly, and by 1886 it had a population of 1,500. By 1920, Williston had grown to an estimated 10,000 people. In 1933, North Dakota became a state within the United States.
