West Fargo is a town in Cass County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 597 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest of the four towns in Cass County and the only one without a school. The first white person to settle in what is now West Fargo was David Deckert who settled there around 1881. He built a cabin on a hill overlooking present-day downtown. A post office called Decker had been established at this location since 1885. In 1902, Harry Wohlman founded the First National Bank of Fargo which remains an important financial center in the community today. In 1998, West Fargo became part of the new city of Fargo, ND when it was annexed by that city from neighboring Stutsman County.
