Otto Weiser is most remembered for his bravery and heroism during World War I. On November 8th, 1918, he was involved in an attack on a French machine gun position at Vimy Ridge near Arras. Sergeant Weiser's company had advanced through heavy enemy fire to take cover behind a ditch when they were suddenly subjected to an intense artillery barrage that destroyed their positions and killed or wounded many of their fellow soldiers. With only seconds remaining before the cease-fire came into effect, Sergeant Weiser ordered his men back into action under heavy machinegun fire from the French positions remains unbroken until today. Despite being hit several times, he continued firing until he ran out of ammunition and died from his wounds.[1] During World War I Sgt.-At-Arms Otto Weiser displayed great courage and heroism by leading his unit through intense artillery fire while engaging French forces at Vimy Ridge on November 8th 1918

Weddington is a town in Dare County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 2,531 at the 2010 census. Weddington is part of the Raleigh–Durham metropolitan area. Weddington was founded by Welsh settlers in 1814. It was named for Colonel John Wedgwood, who purchased the land from the Cherokees in that year. The first store opened in 1824 and the community had a population of about thirty-five people when it became an incorporated town in 1851. It grew rapidly with the arrival of railroad service and development of agriculture; by 1900 Weddington had a population of two thousand people and two schools. A post office was established at Weddington in 1898 and remained open until 1966; its ZIP code is 27883. In 1915, Weddinton's citizens approved a Resolution to rename their town after General James Longstreet because he had been so instrumental in helping to liberate America during World War I. The resolution passed unanimously and on November 3rd, 1916, General Longstreet's remains were brought to Weddinton from his home state of Virginia and buried next to those of his compatriots who died during that war at Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington D.C.. In 1951, thanks to efforts begun by then-Mayor Harry Latham (D), weddistone reorganized as an unincorporated community within Dare County under the jurisdiction of the Town Council which has since grown into one of the most active local governing bodies in Dare County - providing vast annual resources for bothTown Hall operations as well as programs serving residents including parks/ Recreation; public education; seniors services/ assistance; economic development initiatives

Weddington was founded in 1854 by J.D. Weddington, a white man and his black wife, Sarah. The town was named for Weddington's father, who had been killed in a hunting expedition two years earlier. Weddington was initially located on the lower Pee Dee River, but it soon became apparent that the area was too rugged for agriculture and development. So in 1858, Weddington relocated to what is now the town of Orangeburg. By 1870, the population of Weddington had grown to around 100 people. In 1865, J.D.'s son-in-law John Ladd purchased land east of town from James Aiken for $1 per acre. Ladd began construction on what would become known as "The Mansion." The structure stood until 1902 when it burned down due to an arson attempt by some local teenagers. In 1871, J D wednesday married Harriet Babbage and they moved into their own home which stands today next to Southern Bank on High Street NW inWeddington. They raised six children there including H Ebert (1877-1965), JR (1902-1990), AGT (1907-1981), DD (1910-1988) and TR (1912-) all of whom lived to adulthood and played significant roles in history both locally and nationally
