Gourmet Coffee History in Waynesville, North Carolina began with the first coffee roasters in Waynesville in 1925. The first incarnation of the business was run by a man named Harry Dickson and his wife, Lillie. They sold their coffee through door-to-door sales. In 1932, Harry and Lillie moved to larger quarters and opened a brick-and-mortar store at 424 N Main Street. The shop became known as the “Coffee Palace” until it was destroyed by fire in 1978. In that year, Harry Dickson passed away; however, his son Harry Jr. continued the business until he died in 1984. At that time, the business was run by two daughters – Pam Dickson and Peggy Coleman – under the name of Flying Bean Coffee Roasters Incorporated (FBCR). In 1986, FBCR merged with another company called First National Coffee Company to form NC Roasters Corporation (NRCO). NC Roasters Corporation became one of the largest commercial coffee companies in America with over eighty businesses across twelve states. The first espresso machine made its debut at NCRoasters Corp in 1987. That same year saw the introduction of our popular K-cup system which remains an important part of today’s gourmet coffee experience. One of FBCR’s most iconic products was our critically acclaimed Java Jolt which set a new standard for espresso supremacy back then and still does today! Additionally, we enjoyed success with our Daybreak line up including our famous Breakfast Blend and Dark Star blends as well as our popular Latte Artisano blend which is made using whole milk only! We also introduced a variety of flavored syrups such as strawberry or raspberry for added flavor! Our roastmasters always took pride in creating delicious yet balanced coffees each morning regardless of what type of package we were serving! NCRoasters Corporation continued to produce high quality coffee beans & equipment until 2004 when it merged into Starbucks Coffee USA Incorporation (SBUX) . SBUX continues to operate independently today under its own name - Starbucks Coffee USA LLC - continuing to produce world-class gourmet coffee every day!

Waynesville is a small town in the Pender County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 9,662 at the 2010 census. Waynesville is part of the Asheville–Mountain View–Biltmore Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located on U.S. Route 288 and Interstate 275. Waynesville was founded in 1795 by Captain John Wayles as a small trading post on the Catawba River east of what is now downtown Asheville. The first white settler in Waynesville was James Caldwell, who arrived in 1796 and built a log cabin near today's courthouse square. In 1804, George Pickett acquired 640 acres (247 ha) of land southeast of present-day Waynesville from David Henderson for $4 per acre ($10 per hectare). He named his tract Pickett's Valley after General Pickett, who had led an expedition against the Cherokee nation during the American Revolutionary War. The first store opened in 1814 in what is now downtown Waynesville under construction by local entrepreneur Elijah Whitehead Jr.. When it burned down two years later he rebuilt it with lumber from nearby mountains and named it Whitehead's Store after himself and his brother-in-law Reuben Smith (1785–1836), one of pioneer Georges Creek settlers In 1828, waynevilletowne station on NC 278 became town center when steamboats began arriving to load goods at Coal Mountainstock Wharf before traveling upriver to New Bern or Wilmington for shipment to South America or Europe During Reconstruction period following Civil War until 1865, many people came to work in mills and other businesses provided by federal troops stationed here such as Wirtz & Company which made cannon clothespins In 1868 when US Anderson’s Raid destroyed most of eastern North Carolina forests burning 2/3rds of all the trees within 100 miles (160 km), much early timber production stopped because demand for charcoal from southern states waned due to new discovery of oilfields
