Consequently, different businesses started selling coffee - some very successful and other not so much. One such business that had a great impact on the development of Washington, North Carolina's coffee industry was Ewing & Moffitt Coffee Company which was founded by two men named Edward Everett Ewing and John Moffitt in 1892. The company became very successful and soon began importing beans from all over the world including Brazil, Turkey, Arabia Saudita, Java and Ethiopia – all of which helped contribute to North Carolina becoming one of the most important espresso regions in America during this time period. In 1935-1936 a new type of machine called an "etching press" was developed by Alfred Pogue at Naval Air Station Pensacola Alabama which allowed for a much finer quality cup than ever before attainable with traditional methods like hand pressing or boiling water into coffeeskins etc) However these machines were few and far between so there wasn't enough interest until about 1948 when paper cups became popularized due to convenience values rather than higher quality considerations
