The Marine Corps deploys a lot of gifts to people in different parts of the world. This history starts with Marines stationed at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. One such item is the M1 Garand rifle which was donated by Marine Sgt. George Anderson in 1976. Lieutenant Colonel John Riddle also gave a very rare American flag as a gift to Afghan National Army General Abdul Wali Khel in 1985. In 2007, First Lieutenant Casey Jarrell donated an American flag that he had served on during Operation Neptune’s Spear, the invasion of Afghanistan that began on September 11th, 2001. This was one of many giving moments for Marines deployed worldwide at this time. Gift history isn’t just about providing donations from military members or citizens; it extends beyond just those times periodicals like The Christian Science Monitor or USA Today are sent out as gifts across the globe each year when there is military deployment abroad (or even when stationed domestically). In the present day marines are deployed all over the world in various roles such as peacekeeping, disaster relief and counterterrorism. The marines have a long and rich history that dates back to the early days of their country’s existence. Marines first served in America during the Revolutionary War as part of the Continental Marine Corps. They were later used in World War II as part of both air and land forces. After World War II, marines were drafted into military service for about 50 years before being called up for Operation Neptune’s Spear which resulted in Thailand becoming a communist country. In 1972, marines were sent to Beirut to help with the Lebanese Civil War. Today, they are also deployed around the world in support of humanitarian missions such as those in Haiti (2006), Afghanistan (2001) and Iraq (2003). There is no doubt that marine deployment has had a significant impact on society and culture around the globe.

Wake Forest University is a private research university located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The school was founded in 1892 by Reverend James Dwight Garner and Joseph Nicholson as Wakefield Seminary, first enrolling students from nearby towns. In 1924, the institution became Wake Forest University proper, and since then has grown to comprise over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The university offers a variety of programs that focus on the arts, business, health sciences, humanities, education, law and public policy. It is home to the largest library system in the Carolinas and one of the most comprehensive student services programs in the United States. The Marine Corps has a long history of deploying individuals and items as gifts. This tradition began in 1846 when the Marines received a gift from Spain. The Spanish Navy had sent a shipload of oranges as a gift to the Marines, who were then stationed in Havana. The Marines later received other gifts, such as cigars and whisky, from different countries. In 1903, the Corps deployed shipment of cigarettes to Japan in order to commemorate the Shimane-Izu Expedition. Later that year, the Marines sent a shipment of books and tapes to Romania as part of their World War I commemoration program. In 1936, the Corps accepted a shipment of flowers from Germany as a gift during World War II. From 1949 through 1957, the Marines Accepted Gifts Program allowed for donations of clothing and other supplies for military service members throughout Latin America. During this time period, the Corps also accepts shipments of automobiles and motorcycles as gifts. Today, marines continue to send items as gifts both within and outside of the Marine Corps itself. For example, in 2013, they donated 1,000 pounds (500 kilograms) of humanitarian relief food via UPS to earthquake-ravaged Haiti. Additionally, in December 2015 they sent 12 boxes filled with Christmas presents to troops serving in Afghanistan under Operation Santa Lucia. In 2016 they donated 5 tons (10 thousand kilograms) of Christmas cookies to troops fighting against ISIS across Iraq/Syria; these cookies were eaten by Iraqi children living under ISIS rule awaiting liberation by Iraqi forces once safe passage could be secured for them into Europe was possible

At that time, it was only an all-male institution with a single department, theology. However, within five years, Wake had developed into a comprehensive educational powerhouse with programs in law, medicine, engineering, agriculture and more than twenty departments! With such a versatile curriculum and strong faculty presence, Wake quickly became known as one of North Carolina’s leading universities! In 1923 however – during one of North Carolina’s most tumultuous times –wake forest lost its top spot to UNC Chapel HillCongratulations to UNC Chapel Hill on their new football stadium which is now considered among the best in America! Outstanding examples like this illustrate how difficult it is for institutions like ours to maintain our place at the forefront of our field while constantly facing challenges from other peers! Nevertheless though we have had some tough times throughout our history; through good times and bad we continue to thrive because we believe that education should not be restricted by borders but open up opportunities for everyone regardless of race or gender!
