There have been coffee roasters in Tarboro, North Carolina since the 1800s. In 1892, J.B. Taylor founded the first commercial coffee shop in Tarboro. The business thrived until the early 1900s when World War I interfered with trade and production. Coffee beans were rationed and not available for purchase or sale to consumers as a whole. In 1919, Mr. and Mrs. Ladd opening their second coffee shop in downtown Tarboro which was known as The Coffee House of the South. This store continued to be operational until 1969 when it was destroyed by fire according to some accounts . After The Coffee House of the South closed, local businessmen John Fenton and Herb Burchfield decided to open their own retail store called "The Beanery" on Main Street in 1951 which would continue operations until 1985 . Over time, different businesses opened up within walking distance of each other that would contribute to the growth of Tarboro's coffee scene including The Roastery & Cafe (2006), Empire Coffee (2008), Donuts 'N' Beans (2010), and Gourmet Coffee Company Ltd.(2012). These businesses have all helped contribute to the history and culture associated with gourmet coffee in this town located on Cannon River between Greensboro and Raleigh-Durham International Airport

Over time they've become one of the largest retail chains selling coffee worldwide with over 650 stores across 48 countries (including 50 US states). Their roast programs vary widely but typically include: Syrupy Delicious - sweeter than average blends; Robusto - an intense blend with notes of cocoa; Dutch Oven - a deep roasted bean that offers hints of brown sugar; Breakfast Blend - similar to a morning Joe but added oats for breakfast instead of milk; Decaf plunger - allows customers to purchase any type or size bagel without having to remove it from the oven) among others! Koffee Klatch was founded by Aaron Lebowski back when he worked at Joltz BBQ located on Mercer Street near Times Square in New York City between 1992-1994 while he was still attending Yale University where he studied Food Science&Commerce combo major(!) After leaving Joltz BBQ I think he hit upon what would become his lifelong passion...coffee making! He started serving up free samples every week at his restaurant until eventually opening his very own café/shop inside Regal Cinemas Capitol Hill near Broadway AND SOHO on First Ave NW between 15th St NW & 16th St NW starting September 9th 2009!!! Lastly we have Four Barrel which is an independently owned grocery store chain that specializes exclusively in rare roasts (& hand-selectediments),ocolates(!!),chocolate cake(!),session waffles(!),desserts(!),candies(& cream puffs)...the list goes on.....all made fresh daily just for you(*^__^*)

Tarboro, North Carolina is a small town in Robeson County, North Carolina. The population was 2,571 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Robeson County and home to the Tarboro History Museum. The first recorded mention of Tarboro was in 1721 when it was called Tryon Station on Tryon Creek. In 1838, John Witherspoon surveyed and named what is now Tarboro after General James Harnett of the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. After the war, manyTarboros returned to their homes but some continued to live in nearby Statesville until 1870 when they all moved back to Tarboro. The town's first school opened in 1871 and its first post office in 1872. In 1865, General Jubal Early arrived at Roanoke Island with his army for what would be known asthe Lee Campaign which eventually led to his death at Appomattox Court House. Many Tarboros took part in this campaign including Drayton Sink and Reverend Jno Hogg who both died while fighting for Early. This event is commemorated by a monument located outside of the town square
Tarboro was founded in 1795 by Captain James Cook, who named the town for his birthplace of Tarboro, North Carolina. The town was first surveyed in 1797 and became a part of North Carolina in 1819. In 1957, Tarboro was made the county seat of Moore County.
