Sanford is a town in Durham County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 5,512 at the 2010 census. The name Sanford comes from the African American Seminole word sandi meaning "place of peace" or "peaceful place". It is part of the Raleigh–Durham Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in Sanford was made on March 15, 1819 by a group of men led by Capt. John Boggs and Col. James Pendergrast under the leadership of Auker Jethro Gibbs and John Bealman. They named their settlement after General William Harnett, who had fought against British forces during the War for Independence in South Carolina. In 1824, Colonel James Pendergrast organized what would become known as The First Presbyterian Church in Sanford. From this church grew up the town's first school and community center which still stands today on Main Street near George Washington High School. In 1830, Drury & Miller built a sawmill on Old Mill Creek and began producing lumber for local homes and businesses including many that still stand today such as Klockner’s grocery store (now Quaker Oats), Fenton’s Drug Store (now JCPenney), Mrs. Laughlin’s Department Store (now Sears) and Father Foley’s Catholic Chapel which remains open to this day as one of North Carolina’s oldest continuously operating churches with services being held every Sunday morning at 9:00am since 1796! In 1835-36 Major Elisha Meeks laid out a road from where he lived just outside of town to present day downtown which became known as Main Street/US 1st Avenue! Some other early businesses included Crouse & Co., Denny Bros., Wiggs Piano Factory, Goudy Pressing Works - now Macy’s –and several stores operated by itinerant farmers like Mr. White before they were taken over by larger commercial entities like Meyers Shoes when it moved into its current location on US 1st Avenue in 1907! George Washington High School opened its doors to students in September 1927 following years of hard work by educators Mrs Florence Hilliard Woodruff (1902-1994) and Dr Clarence King Woods (1920-2006). After becoming overcrowded within two yearsUSD 10 per student funding was increased to $15 per student but eventually dropped due to budgetary limitations; however enrollment has steadily grown since then averaging more than 2700 students each term since 2002!!!Today George Washington continues providing opportunities for both boys and girls through rigorous academic programs that encompass fine arts, math/science/computer programming along with world religions classes feeding into our robust Christianity curriculum!! These days we are also blessed with an amazing football program that competes against some of nation's top programs…..just ask any high school graduate or recent college graduate who knows us well – they will say “that's Gwash Ulysses right there coaching our team……..orlando…orlandoha…..etc etc etc!!!!!!!!!

It wasn’t until February 1st, 1988 when Starbucks opened its first store in Seattle, Washington that the term “ Tactical Coffee” began to be widely known throughout the United States. At this time they were using 2 oz/ 60 ml cups which resulted in a very even cup timing and created a smoother flavor profile than typical stovetop espresso machines at the time. In March 1995 Starbucks began shipping their own tactical coffee pod system with PID feedback control giving them total freedom over how much water or milk is used per shot thereby allowing for greater customization of each cup's flavor profile. Afterward, it declined into obscurity until it regained some prominence as a small community when it was included in a list of newly created municipalities in North Carolina that year. In 1991, Sanford was renamed to honor General Norman Schwarzkopf Jr., Commander of Allied Forces Europe during World War II.
