Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina is a town located in Union County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 8,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Union County and the largest city in Union County by population. The town began as a small log cabin settlement on the banks of the Neuse River in 1810. A post office called Roanoke Rapids was established in 1815, and remained in operation until 1865.
