In 1828 Englishman John Law established an independent business base here called "Mount Holly" which prospered until he died in 1831. His son James Law continued the business until his death in 1865. In 1886 United States Senator Daniel Webster (D-New York) moved to this community to be closer to his home base in New Hampshire On October 25, 1912 Governor William McKinley (Ulysses S. Grant) gave the town its first gasoline lamp and electric light system when he brought power from Raleigh into Alamance County through a new transmission line connecting Henderson and Gastonia Three years later on November 7th 1915 Battle of Bull Run began when General Robert E Lee led Confederate forces against Union forces under Ulysses S Grant near Fort Fisher – resulting in over 200 casualties including 39 killed and 95 captured soldiers from Mount Holly In 1922 during World War II American troops landed here as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear to support Japanese forces invading America On July 5th 2015 it was announced that mount holly would undergo $6 million worth of renovations which will include installation of an all weather roof over the local high school gymnasium; new sidewalks; repaving streets;replacing lighting throughout;rebuilding main water pump house & tanks; adding more parking spaces

Mount Holly is a town in Alamance County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. The Mount Holly School District is one of twelve districts in Alamance County. It is part of the Greensboro–Winston-Salem–High Point Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit what is now Mount Holly was Captain John Smith on July 10, 1607 during his journey from Virginia to Carolina. He named the stream "Rhodesia" after the king of Rhodesia in Africa and noted that it flowed through a high mountain range that he had seen on his trip northward. In 1735 David Denton built a sawmill on the confluence of two forks of Yadkin River which became known as Cedar Ridge because of its cedar lumber production. In 1827 James Ewing organized and began operating a wharf on the Catawba River near what is now Mount Holly while he owned land along its banks. On October 4, 1827, Ewing donated 2 acres (0 km²) to form what would become Mount Holly Township and laid out four blocks with roads leading east-west and north-south as well as an alley running northeast-southwest which served as a square gridiron shape until 1834 when square streets were instituted by ordinance due to growing railroads nearer than any other place in Alamance County at that time. Ewing's donation set off several years of development forMountHolly with many people coming here for business reasons only to leave again shortly afterwards once railroad transportation became available closer within Alamance County proper or within Greensboro where most people lived at that time; this led eventually to better housing developments such as Pinehurst Village located just outside downtown since 1830s until Railroads brought about mass migration into central NC beginning in 1870s driving out most small businesses/villages within city limits thereby reducing competition for jobs & housing etc.; also pine Street between state Capitol & Rutherford Park renamed Hillsborough Street starting around 1870s becoming more fashionable name for all sorts of stores & services due to increased accessibility from Railroad tracks (& later Interstate 95). This period also saw increase in whiteresidential populations having withdrawn from Haleyville area going into major cities such as Raleigh where they were employed by companies like IBM or Western Union; however black residents continued residing throughout this time period although their numbers gradually decreased over ensuing decades making up only about 20% ATK's population by 2000 However there has always been effort made by ATK'sBoard members since day one to reintroduce black residents back into our community whether it be through education programs/community events etc.; currently we have over 50 black residents who are either retirees or working fulltime inside our community helping make ourTown more diverse yet tight knit together like family
