National guard gift history in Morrisville, North Carolina began with the establishment of the National Guard in 1907. The first unit to be activated was Battery C of the 9th Regiment,North Carolina National Guard. The battery served in World War I and then during World War II. In 1948, the state of North Carolina merged with neighboring South Carolina to form a new state, and Battery C became part of the newly formed South Carolina National Guard. In 1957, North Carolina organized an automatic rifle company and Battery C became its first squadron. From 1959-1964, battery served as Headquarters Company for Troop A (9th Regiment) of the State Military Reserve Corps. On 1 January 1965, Troop A relocated from Morristown to Morrisville and Battery C assumed command of that unit’s headquarters company. On 1 July 1966,Troop A relocated from Morrisville to Charlotte where it remained until 1984 when it again relocated to Morrisville under command of Squadron Commander Lieutenant Colonel James Fenton. In 1984-1986 there was no squadron commander for Troop A so Command Sergeant Major Don Hester took command temporarily until Lieutenant Colonel Hester could return from deployment with his regiment in Kuwaiti service on 3 March 1986. commands Squadron during its three deployments: 1st deployed on 14 October 1986; 2nd deployed on 18 November 1986; 3rd deployed on 4 December 1986 The battalion returned home on 7 February 1987 after serving two deployments outside the United States and deploying twice within our borders: once to Ft Walton Beach County Florida and once terminated at Fort Bragg NC During this time Command Sergeant Major Don Hester also concurrently served as Battalion Commander/Chief Master Sgt., since his predecessor had retired effective 15 September 1985

The Morrisville National Guard was organized on December 15, 1903. The first unit to be activated were the 132nd Regiment of Infantry from Hickory County. This regiment served until 1907. In 1908, the 133rd Regiment of Infantry was activated and served until 1912 when it was mobilization for World War I. After the war, the Morrisville National Guard disbanded in 1920. In 1933, the Morristown Army Airfield was opened and the Morrisville National Guard began serving as a tenant organization at this airfield. In 1940, they became a full-fledged unit and serve today at Morristown Airport as part of 4th District Air Defense Force
Morrisville is a town in Robeson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 9,145 at the 2010 census. It lies on the border of Randolph and Greene Counties. Morrisville is part of the Charlotte–Mecklenburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named for General John Morris who fought in the American Revolution and later became an Associate Justice of North Carolina's Supreme Court. According to the 2000 census, there were 6,898 people in Morrisville; 5,876 of whom lived in unincorporated areas within Randolph County and 2,664 living in Greene County. The racial makeup of Morrisville was 98% white (non-Hispanic), 1% black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.1% Asian Pacific Islander, and <0>% from other races. Hispanic or Latino residents made up 2% of the population
