Today, Morganton has more than 100 cafes serving fresh roasted coffee including several that are open 24/7. The history of fresh roasted coffee can be traced back to when pioneers from South Carolina brought over their first batch of beans in 1825. For many years, Morganton's namesake was "The City That Knew How to Roast Coffee." At first, local farmers ground their own beans and sold them directly to their customers or leased space at local breweries for brewing purposes. However, around 1915 a new mill was constructed and it became one of the most important factors contributing to Morganton's success as a city! Not only did this mill produce high-quality grinding media for manufacturing roasts - but also it allowed for marketing direct to consumers! Additionally – this mill helped fuel an early growth of the local economy as demand for freshly roasted coffee increased! Consequently – by 1925 the city had more than fifty businesses supplying its citizens with quality java! And just like that – espresso cafe culture really took off! It wasn't until 1945 that commercially-produced roasts started appearing on store shelves throughout North Carolina (and eventually nationwide). Unfortunately for Morganton – this coincided with World War II which led to a decline in business activity at both mills as well as employment within the community itself. However – even during wartime there continue efforts by some entrepreneurs (mainly Jews) within Morganton'sCBFCapitalistFederationto keep alive what little remained of its caffeine-centric past… such endeavors have included starting up small roastery’s right alongside existing cafés across town… these small operations continue day-in and day-out today; ensuring that each cup of Café Cortez comes straight outta' town!'

Morganton, N.C. is a small town located in the state of North Carolina. The population was 5,711 at the 2000 census and 6,527 as of 2010. Morganton is part of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg metropolitan area. Morganton was founded by white settlers in 1775 and became a post office in 1859. It has been a town since 1912, when it was named for Colonel Samuel Gist (1762-1840). Morganton was one of the initial towns to be established within Henderson County after that county was created from portions of Caldwell and Transylvania counties on March 1, 1912. The first post office had been established in 1837 at Cedar Grove Plantation east of Morganton on what is now Upson Road. On February 25, 1907, the name changed from Cedar Grove to Morganton to honor Colonel Gist’s hometown which had become an important center for cotton production in eastern North Carolina during that time period. In 1916, with World War I raging across Europe and America, General John Jarratt decided to make Morganton his headquarters while he served as military governor of Henderson County. After General Jarratt’s death in 1919, Morganton took over his functions as military governor until 1925 when responsibility for the town passed back to the Henderson County Board of Commissioners under then-Commissioner Averill Harrell Jr.. In 1937–1938 there were concerted efforts by various citizens groups including those led by Mrs. Lillian Hays Hammond (1893-1982) to move Morganto

Morganton is a small town in Columbus County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. Morganton was incorporated as a borough in 1882. Morganton is located on the eastern border of Columbus County and is bordered by the towns of Weaverville to the east and Hickory to the south. It contains one small shopping center, two churches and three schools. Morganton is largely rural with a few homes scattered among farms and woods. The history of Morganton begins with early European settlers who arrived in what is now Columbus County in 1750. Some of these pioneers were farmers or traders who crossed into this area from Virginia or Maryland during the French and Indian War (1754-63). Others came for enterprise such as Hugh McCulloch's tavern which served as a crossroads between central Ohio and western Pennsylvania during this time period. In 1802, after much discussion, Morganton became part of newly formed Wilmington Township within Franklin County which included most of what are today Delaware and Montgomery counties in South Carolina. In 1825, when Wilmington Township was disbanded because its boundaries changed too frequently for practicality (due to changes in land ownership), it became part of new Union Township that included all but the southernmost corner of Columbus County including Morganton.Union Township consisted mainly of agricultural areas west of Interstate 95 until 1925 when it amalgamated with adjoining Ashley township to form Jacksonborough Township (later known as Jacksonboro). Many residents from Union Township moved to Morganton once Jacksonborough Township was organized because there were no other places available for them to live outside their original townships. One reason thatJacksonborough had more people than any other township in Columbus County was that it lay along State Route 221 which connected Raleigh, NC with Lynchburg, VA through Morrowville while also providing access to numerous mills around town such as those run by Ephraim McDowell Sr., father-in-law of Ulysses S Grant; A&P grocery store owner John Witherspoon; local blacksmith shop owner Daniel Boone; etc.).
