The history of the Mooresville Shooter Gift Club begins with local legend, Jerry Moores. Jerry was a avid hunter and shooter who always enjoyed giving away hunting gift certificates to his friends and family. He saw an opportunity to create a club for shooters inMooresville, North Carolina. The first meeting of the Mooresville Shooter Gift Club was held on January 11th, 1990. The club meetings were held at various places around town until eventually they moved to the old post office building on Main Street.Jerry continued to lead the club until his death in 2003. His wife Noreen took over leadership of the club after he passed away. In 2009, Noreen started selling collectors items related to the history of the Mooresville Shooter Gift Club online at www.shootersgiftclubonline.com Since Jerry's death, there has been growth and development within the Mooresville Shooter Gift Club as members have taken up their challenge of joining together to give back to their community. There are now chapters located throughout North Carolina including Asheville, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham County, Fayetteville and Wilmington; as well as a group in Miami Beach Florida Today, there is still much love and laughter shared by those involved with the Mooresville Shooter Gift Club when discussing our past memories or sharing new stories about how we came together to meet again today! Moresville is a small town located in the state of North Carolina. The population of Mooresville was 9,405 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area. Moresville was founded in 1868 by General James Moore and his family. He named it after his ancestral home in Kentucky, Moore's Court House. The town grew rapidly during the early years of the 20th century due to its strategic location on a major road linking Raleigh and Durham. During World War II, Mooresville played an important role as an Army Air Base. In 1951, General James E. Moore Elementary School was built and remains one of Mooresville's most popular destinations today for students and their families.

Mooresville was founded in 1787 by Colonel John Moore and his wife, Susannah. The town was named for the Moore family, who had settled there in 1760. The Morrys were a prominent local family and owned several plantations in the area. They also donated land to form what is now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The town grew quickly due to its location near major highway routes and its status as a center for trade and commerce. In 1830, Mooresville became the site of the first national political convention held in North Carolina. The convention debated whether or not to secede from Virginia. In 1849, Mooresville became the capital of North Carolina after Raleigh was chosen as the state's new capital by a vote of its General Assembly. At this time, Mooresville had a population of about 10,000 people. However, over time it declined asaleigh growth outstripped Mooresville's population growth. In 1870, Mooresville had only 3 residents remaining while Raleigh had 100+. By 1925, Raleigh had replaced MooresVILLE as North Carolina's official capital with Charlotte
In 1792, Samuel Moore established a small community in what is now Mooresville. He was the first white person to purchase land in the area and built his home on what is now the corner of Elm and Ashe Streets. The town grew quickly due to its location, good soil, and easy access to water resources. In 1853, Moore's son-in-law, John Hinson, purchased land adjacent to Mooresville from Samuel Moore. He founded Hinsonville and named it after his father-in-law. The town continued to grow until it reached its peak in the early 1800s when it had a population of about 250 people. By 1830, however, many of Mooresville's residents had moved away for reasons such as economic hardship or political instability in North Carolina.
