The United States Naval Forces Europe (NAVSEUR) deployed its fleets of ships and submarines to the Mediterranean Sea in 2009 as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear, an effort to reform and modernize the Italian navy. The deployment was spurred by Italy’s decision to build a new fleet of warships, which at that time was the largest in the world. The new vessels were designed to replace aging ships and improveItaly’s naval capabilities in order to compete with countries such as France, Germany, and Spain. The first USS Enterprise sailed from Norfolk, Virginia on October 5th 2009 carrying gifts for senior Italian Navy officers. These gifts included an Australian-made torpedoes, a boatload of wine, cigars, cigarettes and other memorabilia from various U.S.Navy vessels during World War II. Other deployments have followed throughout 2010. On December 10th 2010 USS John F Kennedy sailed into Mebane Harbour carrying gifts for senior Italian Royal Navy Officers including a helicopteropter worth over $30 million USD as well as uniforms and equipment for several different navy branches including the marines and coastguard units.. Mebane is a town in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous municipality in Wake County after Raleigh and home to Duke University and North Carolina State University. Mebane is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains on a small river bend that forms part of Interstate 85 between Durham and Raleigh. Mebane was founded by Nathaniel Meade on November 10, 1802 as a small community near what is now Cary. In 1825, Meade donated land to build an academy for teachers and students. On October 11, 1830, Mebane became the first town in Wake County when it incorporated as a village under the name of "Meadeville". The original three storey brick courthouse still stands today within Mebane's limits. The first headmaster of Meadeville Academy was Drudge Biddle who served from 1830-1835. During this time school attendance increased from 2-3 children to over 20 with girls also attending early morning classes before graduating into society with men until 1851 when laws changed making education compulsory for all citizens at age 15 regardless of race or gender In 1840–41 Mebane had 1 blacksmith & 3 mechanics total while only 7% of residents were slaves (compared to over 60% white) On July 3rd 1861 Confederate General Robert E Lee visited Meadeville while en route to Wilmington where he planned his assault against Fort Fisher which failed due to Union counterattack led by Ulysses S Grant Under Federal rule slavery ended & African Americans began voting which eventually led to abolitionism

Mebane, North Carolina is a small town located in Gaston County,North Carolina. The population was 5,812 at the 2000 census. Mebane is the county seat of Gaston County. It is also the home of Davidson College and the Mebane-based Research Laboratory for Atmospheric Physics. There are many interesting stories about Mebane which have been passed down through its citizens and history teachers alike. One such story involves a local farmer named James Aiken who had an odd request for his customers on one particular day in 1922: he wanted them to bring him a cow that had just given birth. Of course, this was something that nobody could do because cows didn't give birth in those days! However, Aiken did manage to get some locals to help him out by taking care of the cow until it gave birth and then returning it back to him later that day! Another story surrounds Captain James Cook who spent time in Mebane during his 1797 visit as part of his surveying expedition along the Outer Banks region of North Carolina (now known as South Carolina). Cook was greeted by local residents when he arrived and they were so impressed with his ship that they made a public offering asking for food from its crew should he ever return again. Unfortunately, Cook never returned but left behind documentation which tells us more about their culture and life than any other source could ever hope to achieve! In recent times, Mebane has seen some growth both spiritually and physically. In 2002, Davidson College opened up its doors here which led to increased enrollment as people from all over came here to learn about Christianity and Western civilization. Additionally, the Research Laboratory for Atmospheric Physics has played an important role in developing new ways to study atmospheric physics which have helped improve air quality around town while also providing scholarships for students interested in pursuing careers in this field!
