In 1916, the North Carolina National Guard was established as a part of the State militia. The Guard was first organized into battalions and then regiments. The first regiment to be created was the 1st Regiment, NC National Guard. It consisted of 100 men and served in World War I. In 1924, the 1st Regiment became brigadier general level and served in World War II as well. The 2nd Regiment also became brigadier general level in 1924 and fought in World War II. The 3rd Regiment followed suit in 1948 and served until it was disbanded in 1957. The 4th Regiment was formed on November 12, 1958 by combining two other existing regiments-the 5th Regiment (North Carolina Army National Guard) and the 6th Regiment (National Guardsmen of South Carolina). These three new regiments were assigned to duty with Headquarters Company at Fort Bragg which had been closed down since 1945 due to budget cuts within the United States military. After serving for six months they were sent back home where they combined with their old brethren from the 3rd Battalion, NC National Guard to form one regiment once again-the 7th Battalion, NC National Guard. On July 20, 1959 these troops acted as extras for a Teatro de la Luz parade through Mebane when President Eisenhower made his visit to celebrate America’s 150th birthday

Marines Reserve Officers Training Corps (MROTC) has 1/3rd its membership made up of enlisted Marines who attend college to earn their commissioning into the Marine Corps. There are also Naval Militia Units which are not part of any branch but serve under Navy Department command and have different mission than regular naval forces The purpose of the national guard is to provide backup to local law enforcement officers in times of emergency situations nationwide They usually carry out tasks such as guarding critical infrastructure or providing humanitarian assistance In addition to their roles within our society they have been called upon to perform militarily in many places including Iraq and Afghanistan

Mebane, North Carolina is a small town located in the southeastern corner of North Carolina. The population was 1,898 as of the 2010 census. Mebane is home to the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as its graduate school until it closed in 2006. Mebane has a rich history dating back to 1827 when General David Johnston founded the community on land he had purchased from the Cherokee Nation. Mebane grew rapidly during the early 20th century due to its location on scenic Route 12 and its proximity to military bases and industry. In 1951, Mebane became an incorporated village with a voting body that included all of the town's residents over the age of 16. During World War II, Mebane was one of several towns in southeastern North Carolina that were bombed by Japanese forces. Despite extensive damage, Mebane survived and later became part of U.S. military territory after Japan withdrew from World War II. After independence from Britain was granted by Ulysses S. Grant in 1868, many Scots-Irish immigrants arrived in northwestern North Carolina and began farming there – including some who founded Mabank (now known as Bellefonte). By 1900, most of these settlers had left for other parts of North Carolina or Virginia because of difficult living conditions and low wages during Reconstruction era America. However, nostalgia for pre-war days kept many people alive until around 1950 when they finally left behind their Modified Standard house style which still dominates today on Main Street between West Main Street (the post office) and First Avenue South - also known as "The Commons". A few years later, a new kind of development called "Rancho" replaced much older houses along US 12 south of town center while more recent homes have been built along I-95 corridor east/west just north of town limits near Pee Dee River Bridge intoPool Lake Resort & Marina

Mebane is a town in Alamance County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,903 at the 2010 census. Mebane was established by the Cherokee people in 1807 as a trading post on the Yadkin River. The name of the post has been variously spelled Mebane, Meagher, and Meier. The town was platted in 1837 and named for Captain John McBride of General James Robertson's service against Seminole Indians in 1818-19. In 1865 Mebane became an incorporated village under the jurisdiction of Alamance County. It removed to its current site about 1900.
