The USS Constitution was a ship of the United States Navy that served during the American Revolution. She was decommissioned in 1828 and recommissioned in 1832. In 1846, she served as flagship of Commodore John D. Sloat's forces at Santiago, Chile. When Sloat resigned from his commission to take command of Fort Fisher, the Constitution took over his command and sailed back to Philadelphia for repairs. On her return voyage, she delivered 1,200 gift baskets filled with goods acquired during her visit to Chile. The USS Enterprise was a ship of the United States Navy that served during World War II. She was commissioned on October 15, 1942 by Admiral Chester Nimitz Jr.. Her mission was to escort Task Force 58G which provided air support for Operation Overlord. After successfully completing her mission, she returned to Pearl Harbor on December 7th where she arrived on December 11th after sailing around Cape Horn three times! Both ships were decommissioned on September 5th 1946 and donated to the Matthews Naval Shipyard for use as target ships along with other warships from across America which were being stored there until they could be used again! Now part of the Matthews Naval Museum collection these vessels have been visited by many people over the years including Presidents Eisenhower and Reagan!

Matthews, North Carolina is a small town in the eastern part of the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 7,826 as of the 2010 census and 8,453 as of the 2014 estimate. Matthews is located on the Yadkin River in Graham County, between Raleigh and Chapel Hill. The first permanent settler in Matthews was James Moore in 1790. In 1820, Amos Nash established a ferry across the Yadkin River to connect Matthews with Cherokee County to the east. By 1830, there were over seventy-five businesses in Matthews and it had become a cultural and commercial center for much of Eastern North Carolina due to its location on the river between Raleigh and Chapel Hill. In 1845, General John Brown's Raid against slavery prompted an anti-slavery movement in Eastern North Carolina that led to passage of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution which guarantees individual rights not infringed by government authorities. In 1870, Pee Dee Railway began operation through Matthews connecting Charlotte with Wilmington via Matthewsville; this started what would be an era of growth for Matthews as a transportation hub for many southeastern counties growing out of cotton plantations nearby (including Johnston County to its south). During World War II, Matthews was host to more than 10 thousand troops who served at various locations throughout Southeast America including inland plants near Durham and Raleigh; along with numerous other stores and businesses closed during wartime shortages that came after years of economic depression following World War I. The post-war boom period brought new development such as retail parks around downtown Matthews which quickly became world-renowned tourist destinations thanks largely to Interstate 95 running through town; these developments have since been replaced by smaller housing developments adjacent to I-95 leaving little evidence remaining from one time major city center in eastern North Carolina! Today, many people still live within or near Downtown Matthewstown while larger portions are scattered throughout several suburbs adjacent to I-95: Cary (to its north), Apex (to its east), Wake (to its south), Lenoir City (to its west) and Milton Keynes (to its northwest). Overall though rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods have sprung up all around town – making it difficult if not impossible for outsiders evenhandedly attemptingTo figure out just how large or influential Downtown Matthews truly remains today – given recent trends!

Since World War II, the US Navy has played an important role in contribute to the defense of Europe. A number of warships have been brought into service by the navy as part of this effort. These include USS Constitution (1797), USS John Cranch (1863), USS Monitor (1865), USS Fremont (1937), HMS Belfast (1940), USS Enterprise (1945), and HMS Hood (1996). The first naval ship deployed within European waters was USS Constitution on May 17th, 1797 when it transported troops from Rhode Island to Spithead for duty at The Hague Naval Base. The next year saw another deployment with Constitution taking part in Operationally Responsive Force off Sicily during July-August 1801 when Commodore George Dewey relieved Admiral James Cook after his disastrous attempt at capturing Gibraltar without landing his Marines or artillery ashore. In 1803 American Expeditionary Force sailed from Yorktown under Flag Officer Charles Wainwright bound for Genoa but foundered off Cape Finisterre while en route due to bad weather conditions which kept them afloat for three days before they were able to return home without loss of life or injury on October 2nd despite being preceded by HMS Guerriero[1]. On September 26th 1805 Commodore David Dixon Porter sailed from Tripoli with PT boats under Rear Admiral William Farragut’s command bound for Alexandria but their departure was delayed due to thick fog that prevented reconnaissance flights over Tripoli proper[2]. Finally on November 1st after many delays PT boats rendezvoused with Dudley Pound’s flagship HMAS Melbourne reported sighting a large sailboat backed up against shore engaging in heavy gunfire so Dixon ordered all boats except Melbourne towards it only for pound himself and order one boat back outranged Melbourne who then closed range using her superior speed and torpedoes sinking the vessel[3] effectively ending any hope for British reinforcement at Tripoli until finally France intervened providing reinforcements that night[4]. Heavily damaged by fire aboard HMASMelbourne which sank shortly afterwards she eventually made port at Mersina where she was repaired before sailing back home rejoining her squadron two months later[5] leaving behind a memory that will live long after she left our shores. Matthews was founded in 1752 by Captain John Matthews and his wife, Rebecca. The plantation was named for Captain Matthews' father, who had fought in the American Revolution. The first house on the site of Matthews was built in 1760. The plantation continued to be used as a slave labor force until 1861, when it became a free landowning community. In 1828, Colonel James Wofford purchased the plantations from Colonel Nathaniel Hawthorne. Wofford is considered one of North Carolina's most influential figures because he helped create the state's western boundaries and decided which counties would form its future." Matthews played an important role in both North Carolina's Revolutionary War and early years of post-Revolutionary Reconstruction. After the war, Matthews operated many large plantations including those at Catawba and Moorestown. He also served as a delegate to the State Constitutional Convention of 1849-1850 and as lieutenant colonel in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Most importantly, Matthews built up what is now known as Matthews County - located primarily within present day Durham County - into a prosperous agricultural society with sizable cotton populations during Reconstruction times."
