From 1865 to 1876, The Coffee House & Bakery operated as a separate business entity from the original café de la Gare. In 1886, a fourth business entity called The Coffee House & Bakery opened on Market Street in Lincolnton. This establishment served espresso drinks and pastries from 1886 to 1895. By 1900, there were five different businesses that operated as cafes or tea houses in Lincolnton during the early part of the 20th century!

Lincolnton, who served in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. The first white settler in what is now Lincolnton was Andrew Johnson, who went to live there in 1827.
