The Coast Guard Station at Lexington, North Carolina has been providing security for the community since 1898. The station is one of the oldest in the United States and has a rich history that goes back to when America was founded. The first Coast Guard stations were established in Georgia and West Virginia, but they were all closed after World War I. In 1923, Congress passed the Coast Guard Act which created the Coast Guard Service as we know it today. The original duty of the Coast Guard was to protect maritime interests within our borders. However, over time, their mission has evolved to include global protection and assistance to law enforcement agencies around the world. Today, there are more than 5,000 members of the Coast Guard Service in 240 countries worldwide with an ultimate goal of preventing human-related disasters and protecting American citizens from harm. This year alone, our service helped respond to 821 incidents including 77 collisions occurring on U.S.-owned or leased vessels; 88 fires; 12 rescue operations; six searches for lost children; and two medical emergencies.

Lexington is a small town in North Carolina, United States. The population was 5,500 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Durham metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1814 by Scots-Irish farmers and their African slaves, who named it after Lexington, Virginia, where they had been living since the late 17th century. The first white settlers arrived in 1825 and began trading with the Cherokee Nation. In 1830, Lexington became a separate town from Randolph County due to boundary disputes over a water supply. In 1861, Confederate General Robert Emancipation Proclamation moved large numbers of black soldiers and veterans from eastern North Carolina to fight for the Confederacy in Kentucky and Tennessee. Many of these men settled in what is now Lexington; some destroyed houses there to make way for barracks. In 1865, as Union forces advanced into North Carolina during the American Civil War, many of these men joined up with Union forces and fought against Confederate sympathizers within Lexington among other places. By 1865, most of the black soldiers who had fought in Kentucky and Tennessee had returned home or were living elsewhere in the state when war ended. In 1870–71 local landowner John Johnston donated 1/4 acre (0·3 ha) on which downtown Lexington now stands to be used as an Agricultural Experiment Station (AES). This land would become one of America's earliest experimental universities after its creation by President Ulysses S Grant on April 28, 1870 as part of his plan for "a new nation based on scientific research." The AES would grow rapidly thanks to donations from Johnston's heirs until it eventually merged with UNC-Chapel Hill in 1913 to form what is known today as University College at Chapel Hill (UCLH). The first post office opened in 1829; it was renamed Clarksville in 1840 due to its proximity to Randolph County Courthouse. A courthouse was built on Main Street between 1851 and 1860; it burned down in 1866 while being renovated under construction by architect Jno.[?] Cushing designed another courthouse—this one located on High Street near present day Daylesford—that was completed around 1870 but never used because it lacked funds for renovation necessary inside than outside; this building still survives today as Partisan Hall Museum #2 From about 1830 until1861 all letters were sent via horseback courier service provided by James Henton called "the Old Line". After 1861 local mail became available through Raleigh postal services operated out of Garner's store on Tryon Street west of High Street beginning November 15th 1861 until May 2nd 1865 when that store closed because Confederate soldier John Garland robbed them while they were open! As early as 1830 people from Bedfordshire England started coming here looking for new life having heard about America through friends back home: two men – John Quincy Adams Sr & Thomas Jefferson Davis – came overland disguised as traders only staying long enoughborderside before returning back home
The Coast Guard has been a part of the United States since 1790. The Coast Guard's mission is to protect and support the maritime community by providing Search and Rescue, Vessel Traffic Services, Coastal Security, National Emergencies Preparedness and Emergency Response capabilities. In 1938, the Coast Guard was created as an executive branch agency of Congress with jurisdiction over all U.S. coast guard activities including law enforcement, firefighting, smuggling operations and national security functions ashore as well as afloat. The first Coast Guard cutter was built in 1938 at Newport News shipyard inVirginiaand named HMCS Monmouth after then-Governor George Washington’s flagship HMS Monmouth which had served in the American Revolution. In 1959, President John F Kennedy authorized the purchase of three more vessels including USS Constellation which became USCGC Pascagoula (CG-5). CG-5 played a key role during both The Vietnam War period and Hurricane Katrina when she responded to multiple requests for assistance from local authorities in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. She also provided humanitarian relief following Septembre 11th 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington D.C.–the only commercial vessel to do so at that time. Since its inception as a state side service in 1978 USCGC San Diego (LPH 3) has been tasked with patrolling California's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) off Northern California's coastline between Point Conception National Monument & US 101/US 95 Alternate; this area includes most of what is now known as San Francisco Bay Area (& sections of Silicon Valley). In 1990 USNS Louis Halsey (LHD 8) was transferred from Coast Guardsmen relief squadron PCGS(R)-161 to be permanently assigned to LPH 3 waters patrol; this marked the first time coast guardsman had relieved aircraft operators from Naval Air Station El Toro & Coalinga Joint Service Base while they patrolled within their respective stations boundaries – an arrangement that continues today! In 2007 USCGC Guardian (LG 9) replaced LPH 3’s predecessor CNPGH Samaritan which had been decommissioned due to lack of funding & maintenance funds; this marks the first time any U.S.(non military) vessel has served continuously on active duty with Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s department since it began patrols adjacent our city limits back in 1994! In 2013 USS Constitution Museum visitor center opened within striking distance of Point Lobos lighthouse; this facility offers exhibits about America's oldest warship while also accommodating tours for those interested in learning more about coastal defense measures during World War II aboard HMCS Constitution; as well as WWI era naval gunfireboat memorial displays were featured throughout fall 2013 season

These include the Sea Watch program which helps coastal communities defend themselves against pirate attacks; Search and Rescue which responds to SAR requests; and National Park Service Corps which help maintain our nation's parks.
In 1692, the area that is now Lexington was part of the Cherokee Nation. In 1729, English settlers arrived in what is now Lexington and began to fill in the open land. By 1775, they had erected a small fortification onpresent-day Fort Tryon Hill. The British were fighting against the American Revolutionary War and their military presence in North Carolina increased as a result. On July 12, 1775, General James Wolfe surrendered his army at Saratoga Springs in New York after suffering heavy losses. This event signaled the end of the British Empire and helped establish America as an independent country. In 1815, by treaty with Spain, North Carolina ceded its southern border to Mexico. This event also led to increased trade between North Carolina and Mexico which contributed to growth in Lexington and other areas around it during this time period. In 1907, when Kentucky became a state, it included parts of both North Carolina and Tennessee within its borders. As a result of this change in population distribution, many people from these two states moved into northern Virginia or Kentucky as jobs became available there. However, some residents of Lexington continued to reside here because they found good opportunities for business or personal reasons. Today, much of what once constituted Cherokee Nation has been restored—including portions of Fort Tryon Hill—and The University of Texas at Austin maintains a research center on campus that was until recently branded “Lexington” despite being located in Arlington County,. There are also plans underway for development near present-day Fort Worth Road and University Drive that would create new jobs throughout town while preserving historical resources
