Airforce gifts have been a part of Knightdale, North Carolina for many years. The Knights of Columbus have given back to the community through their philanthropy and donations over the years. In 1978, the Knights established the Air Force Museum in Knightdale to help perpetuate military history in the town. Today, the museum has over 130 pieces on display representing aircraft from all branches of service. The origins of air force gift history in Knightdale can be traced back to World War II. The United StatesAAF was founded on July 20, 1942 as the American Military Aviation Association (AMAA). During World War II, America’s aerial forces were mobilized and equipped with numerous new airplanes and weapons systems. A number of these planes were donated or lent to other nations by Allied countries following combat deployments in Europe. In 1948, then-Mayor Broun created an Air Force Advisory Committee which would recommend items for donation or lend-lease to local organizations within Knightdale. The committee’s first report included a Request for Proposal for a civilian museum outside of Asheville due to its increasing popularity among locals as a tourist destination during wartime times. After much deliberation and networking within the community, members decided that an Air Force Museum should be established in order to commemorate military aviation history in central North Carolina. They solicited proposals from individuals and businesses who wished to contribute time or money towards this endeavor; three months later, they had chosen a design proposal from architects John Cushman & Associates Incorporated (JC&A). The first building opened its doors on November 6th, 1978 - almost sixty years after America's entry into World War II! From its inception until today, the Air Force Museum has showcased more than 130 aircraft spanning all branches of service! Many of these planes are original relics dating back to WWII and beyond - some even date back before that! Today, visitors are able to explore every inch of this iconic facility - giving them an inside look at how American society functioned while under occupation by foreign powers!

Knightdale AFB is home to the USAFA (United States Air Force Academy) and it has been a part of the air force for over 60 years. The United States Air Force Academy was established in 1912 as an all-male institution, but transitioned to a coeducational school in 1975. In addition to the USAF Academy, Knightdale AFB also houses the George C. Marshall School of Infantry and Cavalry, the School of Veterinary Medicine, and the Wingate School of Artillery and Missile Defense.
Knightdale is a small town located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina. The population was 3,569 at the 2010 census. Knightdale is one of two towns in Granville County, which is also home to Asheville and Orangeburg. The first people to live here were Cherokee Native Americans who had been living in what is now Knightdale for centuries before European settlers arrived. They started out as hunters and gatherers and gradually became farmers. The first settler in what is now Knightdale was John Wesley Hardin, who came overland from Georgia in 1824. He built a cabin on Cane Creek and named it Knightdale after himself and his father, James Hardin Sr., an early settler in these parts. In 1826, General Nathan Bedford Forrest moved his army into western North Carolina to fight against the retreating Confederate Army under General Robert Ewell. When he learned about this action, Forrest ordered his men not to let any white people leave their camps or settlements until they had evacuated all their property west of Durham! This order drove many Cherokees out of eastern North Carolina altogether because they were not able to get back on their own land without being forced off it by the whites! Eventually, most of these Cherokees returned to live among them again but some remained behind as refugees until the early 1920s when President Warren G Harding signed Executive Order 9066 ordering all Cherokee citizens east of Interstate 40 must leave within six months! Many did not have enough food or money to make it that far so they stayed put until finally being driven out by orders from then-President Truman in 1930! When World War II began, many residents of eastern North Carolina decided that they would rather stay behind and help war effort than leave their homes because there was no guarantee that they would be allowed back into their own country once the war ended! As a result, much of what is now Knightdale was developed during this time: The community got its name from a stream called Knightsbridge (now called Happy Valley), platted lots were acquired for housing (mostly single family homes) through local zoning laws passed during 1942-1945 BY THE WHITE HOUSE AS A WAY OF PROTECTING THE NON-AFFECTED BLACK COMMUNITIES THAT WERE DEVELOPING IN THAT AREA AFTER THE NATIONWIDE COALITION WAS FORMED TO ADDRESS WORLD WAR II NEEDS AND DID NOT WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO BLACK COMMUNITIES!!!!!!!!!

Knightdale, North Carolina is a small town located in the Piedmont region of central North Carolina. The population was 3,491 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greensboro-Winston-Salem Combined Statistical Area. The Knightdale Historic District was designated in 1984 and contains seventy-six buildings on four tracts of land that include parts of present-day Knightdale and neighboring towns of Greenville and High Point. The district includes many 1st century B.C.-era homes, a Methodist church built in 1897, a schoolhouse from 1892, and a pastor’s house dating to 1892. Most of the buildings were additions to existing estates until they were sold or donated to the district by their owners during the 1990s and 2000s as part of efforts to preserved Knightdale’s history and economy. The first settlers in what is now Knightdale arrived around 1800 with planters from Virginia who founded plantations near Roanoke Island for cotton production. By 1830 most residents had left for various reasons—the American Revolution had destroyed much shipping traffic between Virginia and Carolina; gold discoveries at Charlotte made it easier for Americans to find new markets for their goods; new Plantation Owners decided that land would be more profitable if it was divided into large blocks rather than leased out year round; infrastructure improvements such as roads, bridges, water systems, schools – all designed to make life easier for slaveowners – led to increased competition for farmland among landowners seeking ever increasing profits through crop rotation schemes and other innovations). A few isolated families remained until 1880 when most plantations had been consolidated into two or three hundred slaves working on twenty thousand acres (eighteen hectares)of “black soil” beneath rolling hills covered with pine trees stretching back 100 miles (160 kilometers)to Raleigh where slaves could buy foodgrain at auctions along I-95 southbound before being carried north by wagon trains headed eastward on I-40
