The Coast Guard gift history in Greensboro, North Carolina goes back to 1915. The first Coast Guard station in Greensboro was established on the banks of the Catawba River. A patrol boat called the Catawba was donated by Mr. Neely and Mrs. Neely in 1915 and named after their son, who had died in World War I. In 1942, a new Coast Guard station was built on Cemetery Hill and it became known as Station No. 2. The first gifts given to Station 2 were two lifejackets and three pairs of shoes. Today, Station 2 is home to the Coastal Artillery Battalion which provides artillery support for law enforcement operations along the coast of North Carolina. In 1969, a new Coast Guard station was built at State Street and it became known as Station 3rd Ave., Inc.,.. Gifts given to this station include a helicopter (in 1978), an airboat (in 1984), a weather balloon (in 1990), an oil rig (in 1992) and a lighthouse(in 1994). In 2002, another Coast Guard station was built at Elmendorf Rd./Downtown Blvd., which became known as Station 4th Ave., Inc.. This station houses the Coastal Artillery Battalion responsible for providing artillery support for law enforcement operations along coastal NC lines- including those in Wake County!

Greensboro is a city located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 97,519 at the 2010 census, making it the fifth-largest city in North Carolina and one of its five metropolitan areas. Greensboro is a major center for education and business, with several universities and hospitals located within its boundaries. It also has a large Hispanic community, as well as a growing African American community. The area that now makes up Greensboro was first settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in the late 17th century. In 1819, General John Cordon divided Raleigh into three parts – Johnston County to the south, Wake County to the east and Carteret County to the north – based on land grants given out to officers in his army during the War of 1812. The town of West Hills was founded near what is now downtown Greensboro by Captain John Brownell in 1837 after he bought 7 square miles (18 km2) of land from Robert McDowell for $150 dollars. Greensboro became an incorporated municipality on March 5, 1838, when it was included within Johnston County. On January 1st, 1865, Confederate general Braxton Braggs's forces burned down two townships west of Greensboro while plundering them for supplies – this event is generally considered to be the beginning of Green Brier operations which lasted until 1865

In 1937, the Coast Guards became a branch of the United States military and were renamed the Navy SEALs in 1959. The Coast Guard currently operates over 12,000 different boats and helicopters, including three nuclear-powered icebreakers. In 1969, Congress passed an act creating the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to maintain coastal communities and waterways across America’s territorial waters. NOAA was charged with developing regulations governing maritime safety and navigation; managing U.S. coastline resources; conducting scientific research on coasts and oceans; providing education on oceanography; and advising state governors on issues related to coastal communities. The Coast Guard has played a critical role in hurricane relief efforts both before and after Hurricanes Katrina, Sandy, Maria, Irma etc., helping local first responders respond quickly to emergency situations while also protecting people and property from potential damage or loss.

Greensboro was founded in 1734 by a group of English colonists as an agricultural village on the shore of the Cape Fear River. The town became an important commercial center during the early Republic, and its growth accelerated following the Civil War. By 1870, Greensboro had become one of the most populous cities in North Carolina, and its population has since grown to over 250,000. Today, Greensboro is a culturally rich city with a proud history that includes significant contributions from both American and British pioneers. The city’s earliest inhabitants were Native Americans who hunted and fished along the coast of North Carolina. In 1734, English colonists arrived in what is now Greensboro and began to settle what is now northeastern Durham County. The first European settler in present-day Greensboro was John Caldwell, who built a cabin on land he purchased from the Lenape Indian tribe. The town grew quickly because it was located on fertile ground that offered easy access to food resources and boat traffic at the mouth of the Cape Fear River. In 1735, Colonel James Tryon moved his army inland from Charlotte to defeat rebel forces besieging Fort Duquesne on Long Island Sound. When Tryon reached Raleigh early that year, he decided to move his headquarters southward into present-day Greensboro so that he could better command his troops against local rebels. Tryon named his new settlement after General George Washington’s Headquarters at Valley Forge (now part of Philadelphia). In 1736, Tryon married Lady Sarah Lennox; their children included General Nathanael Greene and Christopher Gadsden. At first glance, Greensboro may have appeared like any other small farming community during this time: homes consisted of logs laid together with turf or straw roofing; ovens were used for baking bread; villagers gathered firewood for their cooking fires; and children played outdoors until they were old enough to learn how to read and write. However, soon after General Tryon moved into his new headquarters, some key members of Raleigh’s military leadership started working out of Valley Forge instead—a clear sign that Hillsborough County was becoming more important than Durham County for military purposes. Indeed, within two years after Colonel Tryon’s arrival in Greensboro (1736), tensions between white settlers near Chapel Hill (then known as New Bern) and Cherokee Indians living around Surry had boiled over into open warfare . It wasn't long before Captain John Smith discovered valuable saltpeter mines near what is now downtown GreenSBoro while exploring Carteret Bayou east of Chapel Hill – these deposits would later form part of Wilmington's salt supply.. In fact, tension between white settlers near Chapel Hill (then known as New Bern) and Cherokee Indians living around Surry had boil over into open warfare ..It wasn't long before Captain John Smith discovered valuable saltpeter mines near what is now downtown GreenSBoro while exploring Carteret Bayou east of Chapel Hill – these deposits would later form part of Wilmington's salt supply.. whites began erecting fences along their farms while natives continued gathering supplies necessary for life including food etc., trade goods increased greatly……… After much arguing among themselves about jurisdiction over such matters by men who should know better(the Creek nation being then under British protection), Governor Johnston finally ordered Captain Smith back downriver without giving him any choice but go back through hostile territory………. Tensions continued simmering until late summer when Major Thomas Ligonier defeated Cap'n John Smith's Creek Nation force resulting in peace treaty ceding all power back to Britannia…..
