By 1860, coffee had become an important part of the city's economy and was being sold at prices anywhere from one dollar per cup to $2.50 per cup! By 1870, almost seventy-five percent of allElizabeth City's budget went into buying beans from merchants who rocced through their cups looking for a high quality shipment that could fit into their busy schedules!
