Two co-founders, Erik and Jeremy Dunn, started Maga Coffee in December of 2015 in Dunn, North Carolina. With a love for coffee and passion for the community, they quickly organized and ran their first regularly scheduled coffee meetup at the Dunn City Hall. In early 2016, they opened up shop on Main Street in Dunn with their very first roast of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. The shop has been growing steadily ever since! In late 2017 they moved to a larger space on County Road 622 in rural Dunn and continue to produce delicious coffee products that are loved by locals and tourists alike.
Dunn is a city in McDowell County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 29,827 at the 2010 census. Dunn is the county seat of McDowell County. The city is part of the Greensboro–High Point metropolitan area. According to the United States Census Bureau, Dunn has a total area of 23.2 square miles (60 km2), all of it land. The first Europeans to visit Dunn were French traders in 1665 and 1668 on their way from Fort Duquesne through North Carolina to Virginia. In 1736, surveyor James Robertson named the town for General Sir John Knox who had been Secretary of War in Scotland during the English Civil War and later became Prime Minister under King George III. Dunn was founded as a small community by farmers on May 10, 1859, when they voted to incorporate as a city jointly with nearby High Point. The citizens of both towns began purchasing land northeast of downtown for housing and businesses soon followed suit; by 1870, there were over 100 residences and businesses in what would become known as Downtown Dunn. By 1880, McKinney & Company had constructed two blocks north of Main Street between Trade and Central Streets within what would become known as "the Old Town". Most residents continued living in their homes until after World War II when cars replaced horse-drawn buggies as transportation options for business trips into downtown Dunn or away from it altogether; this change also contributed to growth rates in Downtown Dunn over time although some residences did remain unoccupied until well into the late twentieth century due largely to increased commercial development around downtown mall which now dominates much Stephens Creek Village residential area east of Main Street including much more recent construction along trade streets eastward from Main Street

Dunn was a small town in North Carolina until the late 1800s when its economy shifted to agriculture. The first white settler in Dunn, James Dunn, arrived in 1785. By 1836 the population of Dunn had increased to 675 and by 1860 it had reached 1,000. In 1865 Union forces destroyed all but 5 of the old wooden buildings in Dunn during their march on Raleigh. This event is known as the Battle of Dunn and is often quoted as a turning point in North Carolina history. The town continued to grow through the 19th century, reaching a peak population of 2,500 in 1900. However, during World War II there was significant decline due to heavy industry and military presence in the area; however, by 1960 Dunn had recovered and now has a population of around 500 residents. Throughout its history Dunn has been an important community for education and commerce; today it continues to be home to several universities and businesses including PNC Bank and Dunn-Fayette College.
Dunn was founded in 1799 by Captain James Dunn and his wife Elizabeth. The town is located on the Yadkin River, about 20 miles northeast of Raleigh. The Dunn family operated a sawmill, a grist mill, a ferryboat company, and a wagon wheel factory until the early 1800s. In 1827, Capt. James Dunn donated land to North Carolina for the state capital. The first house in what is now Dunn was built in 1828 by Colonel John Floyd. The town annexed other townships in 1869 and 1880. In 1898, it became the county seat of Davidson County after being moved from nearby Raleigh. In 1916, it merged with nearby Cary to form the present-day Dunn/Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA).
