The air force deployed gift history in Dunn, North Carolina dates back to 1947. The Dunn Air Force Base is home to the 4th Aerospace Wing which was created on October 1, 1947. The wing is a subordinate unit of the 5th Air Forces stationed at Fort Worth Army Airfield, Texas. The 4th Aerospace Wing was the first USAF base in the southern United States and it was also one of the first military installations in North Carolina. On November 11, 1948, General James J. Doolittle visited Dunn Air Force Base and presented an aircraft to Colonel A.D. Smith of the 4th Aerospace Wing for use as a mail plane during Operation Littlechild. In 1951, Colonel Smith donated two F-86F Sabres to the wing for use as fighter planes during Operation Thunderbolts II. The 1st Tactical Fighter Squadron (1 TFS) arrived at Dunn AFB on May 15, 1952 from RAF Lakenheath in England and became operational with these new airplanes on July 26 of that year. On September 12 of that year, 1 TFS participated in Carrier Landing Tests (CLT's) off NAS Norfolk while supported by 24 F-106A Starfighters from George C Marshall’s US Strategic Command flying over King Neptune Island in Hampton Roads Virginia On December 10, 1952; President Harry S Truman issued Executive Order 9981 which established two squadrons of McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom jets assigned to Andersen AFB near Guam for overseas duty with Japan’s Imperial Japanese Navy Fleet Aircraft Depot (JINAFAD). With these mission changes comes yet another name change –the 4th Tactical Fighter Squadron – when its Boeing E-8 Harrier jet aircraft were redesignated “Pilot One/First Lieutenant John Purity” on January 8, 1953 In 1954; squadron personnel went through their initial training under LtCol Robert Hagenbach who served as commanding officer from February 18 until his retirement at March 31 before becoming Chief Warrant Officer 3rd Class Ralph Muhlenberg who served until his death on October 14 After almost two years without any combat operations being flown by either unit; Capt Raymond Ladd became commandant/chief instructor at Wright Patterson AFB where he would serve until retiring effective June 30 1969 . He would be succeeded by Col Leroy Ruppert who would serve until his death on August 28 1969 . After serving as Commanding Officer for 2 tours with VMF(I) 1996 -1999; MajGen William Gomer assumed command effective October 16 1999 LtCol Jeffrey Welsch assumed command effective December 7 2000 after LtCol Welsch completed tour duty with VMFA(I) 1998 -2000 based out Ft Worth TX Maj Gen David Ziegler assumed command effective February 6 2001 after Col Ziegler completed tour duty with VMA(W) 2002 -2003 stationed out Kwajalein Atoll Guam

Dunn is a small city in the state of North Carolina. It was founded in 1838 and has a population of only around 12,000 people as of 2010. Dunn is located on the Yadkin River, which forms the eastern border of the city. The river was named after General James Dunn, who fought in the American Revolution. Dunn is known for its many historical buildings, including the Dunn Bros hardware store, which is still open today and one of the most iconic buildings in Dunn. Other landmarks include Cunningham Park, which is home to a number of activities such as baseball and basketball games; and Johnnie Boggs Jr./Johnnie Boggs Drive, which connects downtown Dunn with Johnnie Boggs Airport.
The United States Air Force has a rich history of deploying gift items to nations in the world. The USAF has sent various gifts, such as literature and electronics, to countries around the world for many years. One of the most recent deployments by the USAF was in 2013 when they sent a shipment of games and toys to South Korea. This was part of an annual military-to-military relationship between the United States and South Korea. The game shipment was also meant as a way for both nations to improve their relationships. The USAF has multiple gift history campaigns that they participate in every year. These campaigns are designed to show support for our allies and partners abroad. This year’s campaign is calledOperation Smile! Operation Smile is a program that helps provide smiles to children in need through donations from US citizens all over the country. The idea behind this campaign is to show people how much we care about these kids and make sure they have access to quality dental care on an equal level with other countries! This past year, several countries requested items from the United States Air Force Forces stationed abroad. Some of these requests were for personnel training aids, others were for humanitarian shipments, but all were meant as thank yous from our citizens for their service overseas. These requests include shipments of food, clothing, medical supplies, etcetera. Each nation who received something from us loved it so much that we decided to do another campaign just like it! This time around we’re calling it “Gift hosptiality”! We want everyone across America to come together and donate little bit extra each month towards giving back at home! Dunn is a small town in North Carolina, located near the intersection of Interstate 95 and exit 20. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. Dunn is one of two towns in Rutherford County that are both considered part of the Greensboro-Winston Salem metropolitan area. The first people to settle in what is now Dunn were farmers who arrived from Virginia about 1775. By 1825, there were twenty-one families living in the town. John Fenton bought a three-acre lot on which he built a house and barn in 1827. The Fenton family continued to live there until they sold their land to George Washington Hardin in 1881. In 1865, General William Tatham purchased land east of present day Dunn for development into a new town called Rocky Mount, but it never got off the ground because of funding problems and lack of interest from developers. In 1902, an act was passed by the General Assembly creating Cannon Falls Township within Henderson County and giving it to Rutherford County for annexation with Dunn as its southernmost township. The vote was 5–0 with only one member not voting because she did not want her home county annexed into Henderson County! It wasn’t until 1931 when residents of Cannon Falls Township decided that they wanted their own post office so they applied to have Dunn renamed “Cannon Falls” and received approval from the North Carolina Post Office Commission. In 1932, a school was built on the site where Harrison Elementary School now stands; it became operational that year under the name “John Fenton Community School” before being renamed again in 1951 as “Dunn High School” after Mrs. JF Hardin (Mrs. Johnston). From 1951 through 1984, Drs., Msgrs., Mrrs., & Mrss.(the then current Principal) taught at Dunn High School under various names including: Battle Creek Area Vocational High School (1951-1954), Rocky Mount Area Vocational Institute (1955-1964), Raleigh Intermediate Unit #2 (1965-1984), Chapel Hill Elementary/Secondary Schools (1985-1991), Greenville Intermediate Unit #1 (1992-1996), Battle Creek Intermediate Unit #3 (1997-2000). In 1984, Drs., Msgrs., Mrrs., & Mrss.(the then current Principal) taught at Ellis Technical Community College instead during this time period known as “Battle Creek Tech” because Ofc./Director Carl Pemberton had transferred his program over from Apex Technical Community College which closed down due to financial difficulties shortly afterwards! Today's adminstration building behind Harrison Elementary SCHOOL was built circa 1924 by John Fenton's father Geoge Fenton Sr.; originally named "Fenton Normal School" after his son John's grandfather who served as superintendent during this time
Dunn was founded in 1829 by James Dunn and his brother, Daniel. The family had a small mercantile business in the town until their first land purchase in 1837. The brothers built a cabin on what is now known as the "Dunn farmstead." In 1840, they married Maria Caldwell, and started a family. In 1860, Dunn's father-in-law died and left him $1,000 to start a school. Dunn opened the first public school in North Carolina in 1861. By 1865, the school had become an all-male school with 5 students. In 1870, one of the brothers purchased 276 acres of land east of Dunn for $15 per acre and began construction on what is now known as Eastern State University. Eastern State became North Carolina's first state university in 1871 when it merged with Chapel Hill Female College to form UNC Asheville. Dunn was also instrumental in developing Durham which became one of America's leading cities after its incorporation intoDurham County on February 14th, 1889.
