The Charlotte, North Carolina Naval Shipyard has been a major naval installation in the United States for over 100 years. The shipyard was founded in 1887 and is one of the largest Navy shipyards in the world. The site has a variety of ships that are used by the U.S. Navy and its allies around the world. There are warships from both World War II and current day, as well as prototype vessels that have not yet been deployed. From 1912-1996, USS "Charleston" was based at the naval shipyard. After being decommissioned she was donated to the city of Charlotte along with other navy surplus vessels including "Hancock" (AO-1), "Nantucket" (AO-3), and "Portsmouth" (AO-5). In 1997, USS "Charleston"'s name changed to USS George Washington after being reactivated from lay down repairs following her decommissioning at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Virginia Beach, VA USS Wilmington (LCS 5) was launched on October 1st 2017 and sponsored by Mrs Nikki Haley

While there were no reports of casualty or damage during her stay in the Mediterranean Sea - something which is always reassuring - it is worth noting that this particular deployment saw an increase in naval traffic due to NATO's efforts against Isis. As such, there were plenty of opportunities for sailors from both navies to interact and learn about one another. One example of this interaction came when two Italian destroyers stopped alongside Abraham Lincoln while she was docked at Naples port; the Italians posed for pictures with the ship's crew before giving each member a roundtrip ticket back home! It should be noted that these types of interactions are not common occurrences between different militaries; instead they are more likely occurrences during routine exercises or when warships visit ports together on special occasions like this one!
