Albemarle is a town in Alamance County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest town in Alamance County after Raleigh. Albemarle lies on the border of Randolph and Cabarrus counties. The first settler in what is now Albemarle was John Locke who arrived in 1751. In 1814, three men named Jameson founded a post office near present day Albemarle Summit to serve settlers traveling between Randolph and Hillsborough Counties. In 1828, when Randolph County was created from part of Cabarrus County, two men named Rice and Walker purchased 16 acres (6 ha) of land north of the community for $650. They donated it to the town for use as a public square. The town hall was built on this site in 1842 and operated until 1949 when it burned down due to an arsonist's spree. In 1892, Mr. Henson improved a tract of land east of downtown into what became known as "The Point". He built a wharf there which he used for shipping goods from his farmstead to Wilmington and back again for many years until he sold it in 1935 to the city government for use as an open space park located on modern day Main Street within sight of Albemarle High School and picnic areas situated along both sides of Main Street itself - making it one of only two towns in Alamance County with its own municipally owned park(s). The original name given to Albemarle by its founders were "Pine Bluff" because that is where they first set eyes upon it while driving through Randolph COUNTY on their way northward from Charlotte; but soon thereafter they changed their minds about that appellation and so called their new settlement "Albemarle". The name stuck with them throughout their stay here until finally being abandoned by them following World War II when much development took place within reach across the county boundary; although some later residents kept up unofficial usage of "AlbEMARLE" even long after those days had passed! But all that has changed since independence ! Nowadays everyone seems quite content simply calling themselves AlBEMARLEites!

At this point, espresso was already being produced at various centers across Italy including Bologna and Florence (where Galle had first tasted real espresso). The popularity of espresso soon spread throughout Italy with other regions following suit. By 1890, all major Italian city governments had their own roasteries producing excellent cup-of-coffee products that competed against the great European roasted coffees like Folgers or Peet's Dutch Coffee Roasters (now known as Nestlé). The Albemarle County seat, located in the town of Alamance, was first developed as a plantation. The land for the county was donated to the state by General John Sevier in 1785. In 1812, Albemarle became one of the four counties created from North Carolina following its acquisition of federal lands by the United States. The county courthouse and jail were built in Alamance during this time. The original courthouse burned down in 1836, but a new courthouse was built on what is nowimble Street in Alamance. Albemarle has experienced many changes throughout its history. Prior to being part of Durham County, it was an independent parish with its own bishop and court system. After becoming part of Durham County, it joined other eastern Counties within that county for judicial purposes only and did not have its own bishop or court system again until after World War II whenordy became an official county seat. Today, Albemarle is known for its data centers and technology companies such as Googleplex and AMDx Amherstwhich are headquartered there as well asits annual agricultural festival which takes place every fall at Ransom Park near downtown Alamance
Albemarle was founded by the Reverend Johnathan Swift in 1724. The town grew rapidly and by 1750, it had a population of over 100 people. In 1801, Albemarle became part of the United States of America.
