The Yonkers Army Garrison was established in 1814 as a military post on the west side of Manhattan. The garrison served as an outpost for two years until it was transferred to Fort Ticonderoga in 1817. The fort served as the headquarters of New York Command during the War for Independence and also functioned as a frontier post. In 1830, the army moved its command center from Fort Ticonderoga to Yonkers after funds were raised to build a new structure. In 1861, when New York seceded from the United States, the garrison was decommissioned and merged into Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion of the 1st New York Infantry Regiment. It remained inactive until 1865 when it was reactivated at Queen's Park and assigned to protectNew York City during Reconstruction. After Funds were raised to build a new barracks at Yonkers, army moved its command center there in 1830 after funds were exhausted building Fort Ticonderoga’s predecessor structure. Banished by Yankees following their secession from US due to money troubles in 1865, this garrison ultimately reformed itself at Queen's Park before being disbanded again in 1902-3 under government rules that ended not long afterwards. The last 50 years have seen various elected officials evaluate and review this history and love story of YonkersArmy Garrison while trying vainly (and unsuccessfully) to create proper infrastructure conditions conducive towards such an entity taking form; foregoing results would be difficult but not impossible given present daycircumstances).

Yonkers, New York is a town in the Hudson Valley of New York City. The population was 8,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Yonkers-New Hyde Park-Hudson Valley statistical area. The first European to set foot in what is now Yonkers was Dutchman Hendrick Corstiaen on November 3, 1624. He named it "Nieuw Utrecht" (New Utrecht) after his home city of Amsterdam. A year later, on December 12, 1625, British Captain John Smith and his men arrived at what is now Yonkers and named it after their new host country - England - though they were not welcomed with open arms by the Native Americans who had long inhabited this region. The town was originally surveyed by Cornelius de Vries in 1667 and patented to Jacob Van Schaick on December 10th that same year. The first settler in what is now Yonkers was Caleb Fairchild who purchased land from Jacob Van Schaick on April 17th of that same year for $250 ($ in ). The Dutch name for this location – "Utrecht" – means “estate” or “farmstead” in English and refers to a manor house located about two miles north of present day Yonkers Village Hall which still stands today as one of the most impressive examples of Dutch architecture in America. Van Schaick sold his holdings to General Nicholas Westchester on July 1st, 1701 for £1,500 ($). This gave rise to some speculation that General Westchester may have been seeking an opportunity to purchase all or part of southern Manhattan so that he could add its historic components – including Utrecht Manor House – into his expanding empire as part of a plan known as 'the Purchase'. However no such agreement ever materialized and elements within both George Washington's administration and thereafter continue maintain there may have been more than meets the eye when it comes to why Utrecht Manor House ended up being sold...although very likely due to financial irregularities associated with General Westchester's failedAmerican Revolutionary War enterprise! Nonetheless, regardless thereof - ultimately - utrecht became one less piece in anyone's grandiose pie! For over 200 years following its initial purchase & occupancy by NicholasWestchester & subsequent occupants - until finally being vacated & sold back into private hands through 2 successive proprietorships starting with Mrs Jane Kappelman having it reoccupied by her daughter Denise Rabinowitz prior thereto being closed down again beginning around 1990s although portions thereof remain extant nonethelessalbeit under various management including currently operated by Historic Preservation League Of America aka HPLA after negotiations involving property owner Clifford Abramson who also happens to be Mayor Of Yonkers proper since inception thereby making him technically responsible should any issues or concerns arise concerning either structure/property aforementioned)...it would be fair enough TO SAY THAT THE ORIGINAL UTRECHT MANOR HOUSE IS NOW ONE OF YONKERS MOST REMEMBERED LOCATIONS! ...AND THAT'S REALLY COOL!

Yonkers is a town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 40,604 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from the Dutch word "yonder", meaning "yonder" or "apart". Yonkers was originally settled by French and English colonists in 1664 as part of the colony of New Netherland. It became a borough in 1811 and then a city in 1824. Yonkers is one of five cities located within the New York City Metropolitan Area. The first permanent settler in what would become Yonkers was Nicholas de Bourgh, who arrived on July 4, 1664 with his family from England. Bourgh founded a trading post at present-day Yonkers Creek and named it after himself: Nieuw Amsterdam (New Amsterdam). In 1668, Bourgh's son-in-law Samuel scary built him a house on High Street opposite what is now the Park Avenue Armory building. In 1757, John Tryon purchased land east of today's State Capitol Square from Nicholas de Bourgh for £41/acre (approximately $6/km²). Tryon named his new land Northampton Township after Northampton County in England where he had been born several years earlier. For many years this area was rural farmland; however, during World War II an airbase operated by the United States Army Base Camp Hancock near here gave rise to numerous housing projects constructed by military personnel occupying Manhattan during that time period. In 1795 through 1800 Daniel Webster served as Mayor of Albany; while there he campaigned unsuccessfully for election to Congress as an Adams Democrat but did win election to serve out his term as Mayor instead In 1800 Washington Irving moved into Congregationalist Manor on Union Road north of Main Street which served as his home until his death in 1836 aged 82 years America's first municipal water system began operation December 12th 1825 when Boston Common turned its service over to George ClintonWater Works Department officials noted that “this morning five cartloads of dirty water were brought here for us from below Tompkins square” . . . “ Water conservation had always been dear to Timothy Pickering and throughout his life he subscribed liberally both to church and charity items related thereto On January 1st 1830 all male residents over 21 were required to swear an oath before selectmen stating their intention not only personally but also corporately never knowingly or willfully resortingto any unlawful gamesters practices – bowling alleys being especially conspicuous targets On February 8th 1830 Treasury published notices providing notice that Stovepipe Tobacco Plantation Owner Isaac Brock had defaulted on mortgage payments totaling $2 thousand This event spurred much public outcry against large tobacco plantations leading eventually some legislative attempts at reform including passage of the Pure Cotton act cosponsored by Congressional Represenative Salmon P Aldrich which offered government incentives towards more environmentally friendly production methods including bans on forced labor
